Backyard Buck

Got some decent pictures of a nice young mule deer buck at my house the other day. Probably a 3 1/2 year old. The county that I live in doesn't have many deer, so there is not a hunting season on them. I'm seeing more and more deer every year though so maybe one of these years they will actually open up a season for them. I see about an equal number of mule deer and whitetail deer on my property.

I didn't have a good lens on the camera so the pictures aren't that great. He didn't stick around long enough for me to go swap out lenses on the camera.

The only drawback to seeing deer around your house is that when the rut comes along they don't seem to like my pinon pine trees that I planted. Not many trees around here so it hurts to see this one beat up this bad. Not sure if it is gonna make it or not.

Nothing too exciting, but it is kind of neat to look out the window at breakfast and see a nice buck.

I almost hit a huge 5x5 one night going by Taco Bell, next thing I know there's hoofs and horns running out in front of me right on main street!

Not a chance in Heck that is North Dakota. Every county in ND has an open deer season. So no that is not ND. Im gonna guess that is Oklahoma. Just a wild guess

We have 51 acres around the house and we live on the rim of the Yellowhouse Canyon which is the only and I mean ONLY elevation change in the entire county.

We actually have 160 acres 100 mile away in Fisher county that I hunt on, but there are only whitetails there. I shot my mule deer this year in Roosevelt county, New Mexico which is 100 miles northwest.

Actually the deer is technically in our front yard rather than our back yard I guess.

Here's a panoramic view of our back yard - http://www.padens.com/housepics/pages/view_back_porch.htm

Looks like it should be good deer country.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

What do you mean they don't like the pinions, lol!
Looks like that Buck is packing some good body weight.
