I've lived and hunted here "forever". Our deer populations are down (predators mostly).......but not so bad that ALL the words have to be deleted! DANG!

Within the shadows, go quietly.

I was going put in a sarcastic answer but I thought I should help a guy out that has gone to all the trouble of waking up this morning and posting a question on the internet.

So, first I looked at the Fish and Game website and downloaded all the draw odds for hunts. I marked all the units on a map that are hard to draw. Then I looked at the harvest data for the hunt units in the part of the state that I want to hunt. Then I looked at the draw odds again of those areas and decided to look into some units that had decent draw odds. Then I looked at aerial photos and topo maps to locate hard to reach areas and areas with water. Then I marked on my calendar 3 weekends I could get out and scout. Then I trained my horse for high mountain trails. Then I spent over $1000 in diesel for my truck and countless hours away from my family. Then after I found a honey hole I decided to take the GPS coordinates and come back and post them on the internet.

So here they are:

They obviously were hard to get:

So please don't tell just anyone:

I really like this place so:

Make sure you help keep it a secret:

GOOD LUCK.....Let me know if this is off.....

Also, I would look in the mountains when its warm and when it snows look in the valleys.

From what I have been able to find out Idaho's Mule Deer units are down right now. Elk numbers are on the rise in some units or wolf problems. One area is just about as good as another.

I hunted Idaho this year on a general tag and killed a nice 179" buck with an inline. That doesn't mean they are common because they aren't but I did see several 4 points. You just need to pick a unit and learn it. It is also essential to get away from the roads. If you do that you will see deer and I was seeing 5-15 bucks a day in 4 days of hunting. Idaho is not what it used to be but still has plenty of opportunity for a guy willing to hike a bit.
