Tom;
13A has been bow hunted for years where 13B has had only 2 archery seasons, 2010 being the third.
Neither of these hunts are easy.
There are few deer in both units, and finding a true giant
is very difficult. You need to scout each unit and see which matches your hunting style. Both areas are huge, and one of the writers said that 13A, the hunting is consentrated in the south and east, and some areas up north.
13B, and again I agree has trophy deer from top to bottom and from east to west.
I have spent a great deal of time the past 10 years in 13B and have been there for both the archery hunts so far. The major way most people hunt is setting water. That does work, if the area is dry. This past year most of the deer harvested happened before it rained. Once it rained many hunters were lost on what to do next. I would say, from what I have seen, and this is only my opinion, that spot and stalk has produced the most true
monster mule deer.
If I personally picked a unit to bow hunt, I would pick 13B, because you have a better chance to get away from other hunters.
That's not to say you won't see other hunters, but the archery
hunt is different than the rifle hunt in that not as many buddy hunters come along. There are alot fewer people, and archery hunters are in my opinion much more serious hunters and don't drive the roads as much.
Hope this helps.
You need to go to the strip, 13A and 13B, and just scout the area.
If you don't know it well, or go with some one who is very familiar with it, you need a guide.
I am not a guide or do I work for a guide. I would consider a strip tag like a sheep tag, you will probably only draw one in your life, so make it count.
Just my 2 cents
