Don't forget the buyer is probably in a 35% tax bracket so that means the tag really cost ONLY about $160,000.

Sounds like a good deal to me!

the Arizona statewide deer tag was bought by a 12 year old kid who bid $177,000. I think the Henry's tag went for $105,000

Judas Priest!

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

Yes, if they're willing and able to pay that much, we shouldn't feel bad taking the money for wildlife.

I was thinking, too, if a guy was making 1 million bucks per year, he'd be rich rich, but a gov tag going for $200,000 would be 20% of his income for that year.

I make $60,000 yearly so that would be the equivalent of me spending $12,000 on a hunt, which I could never ever do to my family. The most I've spent was on a voucher for $1,000, or less than 2% of my income. It was still a pinch.

I guess once you get above a certain income, the percentage of it you spend becomes less relevant as you still have much left over.

I would absolutely buy a governers tag if I had the money. It's something few people could ever do and it would be a blast.

However, it seems reading their stories, the average super rich person doesn't really have the time to spend on the hunt, (big responsibilities), hence all the guides, which I don't have a problem with. So maybe they don't get the satisfaction it seems would come from that experience.

I understand that if I spent that much on a tag, I, too, would throw every available resource at getting the best buck "money can buy". I do now, it's just that my "every available resource" is a few thousand bucks per year, an old Ford pickup and several horses I affectionately call hay burners.

However, maybe we Average Joes get as much or more satisfaction just putting in the time and shooting an OK or good buck that we truly did get on our own.

Just my thoughts.

The Christian
