Buck/Bull Combo Hunt

Any one on here drawn this hunt? Is it worth it? I've always seen NICE bucks on the areas I hunt for elk so it's enticed me to put in for this hunt. Any pros cons to this hunt? Any help would be appreciated.

It has been a good tag for my wife! Being able to shoot elk or deer on the same hunt cant be a bad thing

ok smart ass aside, If your seing good deer why not? Hell i would. Its a good tag if you wanna kill one of them good deer your seing.

It's an excellent tag because you get to hunt deer with a rifle before the rifle hunt. If you have a good elk spot with deer in it, it's even better.
Most people get the tag just to hunt deer before all the Pumpkins come out to play. The areas with no elk are deserted during that time.

Keep in mind your limited to OPEN bull units in the North. Some people think it includes the Cache for example which it does not.

I think the odds for this hunt this year are going to go through the roof. Last year you had a better than 50% chance of getting it.

I agree. I was looking at odds for the hunt last year and it was about a 60% chance of drawing the tag. I do agree that odds will be alot lower with the shorter deer seasons.

Thank you for all the helpful information. I just wanted to hear from some guys that may have had the tag before or knew someone that had.

I do know some areas that are not located in cache that I'll give a shot, if I draw the tag that is.

"Northern Region" "ANY Bull" areas is the only catch. If you are good with these combined restraints, it is a great tag.

Me and my brothers have drawn this tag every year. We hunt an area we know big bucks are around. The problem is the area is full of elk hunters camping right in the middle of the good hunting canyons. There was good numbers of elk in the area before this started happening. But i guess people can do what they want I don't own the mountains. It still is a fun hunt knowing you can shoot a buck or a bull. We have only harvested a couple of small elk and I shot a 160 class buck last year. There is very few public areas where you can hunt with this tag thats one bad thing about it.
