Sorry didn't realize there were two.

nezzy, looks like you have that area pretty well figured out huh? We didnt see anything like that. Gonna send you a PM.

I know of 8 between 178- 223 that were taken. We had the big one, but it was killed the day before I could get back there. The buck she killed, we saw opening mourning and passed for a month, back tines are short but a nice buck.

Nezzy - That's a great buck, would have loved to see the "Big One" you guy's were after :)

btw - are you related to Jared NesSmith, played Baseball there at Lewis Clark in the mid 90's ?

Man your wife is lucky. That is a nice buck congrats. I know of a buck that went 220 something killed in 11 as well the guy has similar luck as your wife he has had the tag twice in three years. Maybe some day I will get lucky and draw it. We drew unit 13 elk tags last year so we will be applying for 11 deer tags this year. Maybe we will see you down there.

I played there around 94-95 If I'm remembering right Jared was a catcher, right. We went pheasant hunting a few times together and he took me turkey hunting (he took a real nice tom that year). Tell him I said hello.

Nice bucks! My guess is that you don't want her to draw again (or draw a tag yourself)...or else you wouldn't be drawing so much attention to a good unit.

Dude,

It's a draw unit with limited tags for both res and non-res. I could care less who draws a tag, and i would help anyone to obtain a trophy. i put in other states and have nothing but good things to say about other's who help me.

John

I know it is a draw unit and I'm all for helping someone who has drawn a tag. However, when you post pics like that and give up the unit to everyone, you make it that much more difficult for those who have put their time in to keep up on these places, to draw the tag. Since you don't mind company, why not tell us where your elk hotspots are?

missalot,

Your username says it all. This site was created to help hunters, maybe you are new here but years ago this site was much different and I must say better.
These are my observations with 51yrs. life experiences, ask someone for help on a once in a lifetime, i.e. sheep, goat, moose, ibex, oryx and not only will they help you they will probably ask to go with you. Draw an antelope tag, they will mostly help. They view it like kissing there sister. Draw an elk tag and the help dwindles even further, kinda like getting caught kissing their mother. Heaven forbid you draw a great deer tag, even a socalled o.i.l. deer tag, the info. pretty much is nonexistent. You might as well have asked them to screw their wife.

Remember missalot, the Idaho draw has only one choice that is valid. Second choice is only for unlimited or undersubcribed hunts. If people rush to the "new hotspot" it should improve odds in other areas. Sorry he picked "your spot" to help others

Missalot,
Do you really have any idea how big this unit is, Really! I have hunted this unit many years, so have a lot of friends, I even live in the area. Whats your beef? Of all of these posts you are the only that has an issue, furthermore if you draw this unit call/pm me and I will help you get, a trophy like my wife has 3 out of the last 6 years. Good luck on your 2010 season.

John

missalot,

I have a buddy who I hunt sheep with. When we are hunting and someone comes and says "seeing anything" he generally tells them everything. Rarely does he withhold information or avoid the answer. One day I asked him why the hell he is so forthcoming with the information? He said what difference does it make? They don't believe me anyway. :)

One thing I will say for nezzy. Last summer my son found out he drew this same tag that nezzy's wife had and I posted here just asking for general information about the area. I made it clear I did not expect specifics or honey holes. I got the usual lines of BS and vague answers. But I got one PM from a guy I had never talked to before telling me he lived in the area and hunts the area and to have my son call him. It was nezzy. I forwarded the info to my son who being busy and perhaps young and bullheaded, did not make that call. Long story short, my son is enjoying tag soup still and nezzy's wife shot a killer buck. Lesson learned.

I know that a lot of attention on areas can affect draw odds. I can think of several examples in my own state. However, I can tell you from experience, drawing an Area 11 tag guarantees you nothing. You still have to get out there and hunt. Its not a "fall-off-a-log" duck shoot area. It's also no secret. You only have to do the math to figure out it's worth looking at. I really don't think too much information was divulged here.

Well, I certainly agree that these sites should be about helping others. In actuality, I really am surprised that no one else commented on his drawing attention to this zone, because there are a number of hunters who have been trying to draw it for years. And because Idaho has no point system, their chances only get worse each year, especially when someone posts up pictures and says 'look what this zone can kick out'. Sure, it isn't 'slam dunk', but why reduce ONE'S OWN chances of drawing the tag by posting the pic and the zone? Trust me, he hurt himself much more than he hurt me. I just think that it is inconsiderate of the others trying to draw the tag to do this. He could get just as much 'publicity' by just posting the pics. With all of this said, I understand that if someone wants to tell the world where they hunt, that's their perogitive, just don't cry when you have to begin your future stories with 'well, we used to be able to draw unit 11 once in awhile'. Good spots get harder to find every year and certainly plenty of us spend our time on sites like this just waiting for someone to start threads like this. Once someone draws a tag, by all means give them all of the help you want, just don't destroy their chances of drawing it before hand by increasing the number of people applying for the tag.

Missalot,
This post was dead on April 6Th, and people enjoyed the post. Then 7 days later u blessed us. Please continue to note the unit in every post you make. Talk abuot drawing attention to a unit. if you ever draw call me, you bet i will send you in the right direction. "lostalot"

Nezzy,

That was funny,

missalot,

apply for unit 27. lots of roads and tons of bucks over 190. Can't go wrong. If in doubt go uphill, then back dowhill, then right back up the hill. The buck is under that tree next to the rock over by the creek. That is my 'hotspot'.

Oh, now you're worried about drawing attention to the unit? Well, at least you're thinking about it. I don't know why you guys feel the need to feel so offended...just think "loose lips, sink ships" and maybe you'll be able to hunt these good zones for years to come.

Dude,
Why are you still harping on this. Keep putting in for the draw, maybe you too can shoot a nice buck, please post it so we all can enjoy your success as well!

nezzy, awesome buck congrats to you and your wife..

missalot, STFU!

Eh, Unit 11 is no big secret. There are several better units to put in for in Idaho though, if you are after trophy class bucks. We always end up putting in for this one because it's in our back yard, and we can put the time in to find nice bucks. Occasional we see a whopper. The odds will be the same on the draw this year regardless of this post. Now if he had several booners he was posting it might change things a bunch! But as is, it's what you can expect from pretty much any limited draw hunt if you really know the area and can put in the time. Gotta like the Ladies in the field though, Good job Shelly!!! Thats a good looking trophy!

Hot off the press:

Henry mountans in Utah has the biggest bucks in the state!!

13B in AZ has the biggest bucks in the state!!!

Unit 21 in Colorado is one of the best units in the state!!

231 in Nevada is one of the best units in the state!!

unit 270 in Montana is one of the most sought after units in the state!!

Unit 45 in idaho is one of the best units in the state!!

unit 102 in Wyoming is one of the best units in the state!!

unit 2B in New Mexico is one of the best units in the state!!

Gawd, I bet the drawing odds are gonna suck in them units now, LMAO.

You just called out all my units. What the matter with you Now the odd are 1 in 10,000 instead 1 in 8,500
