11 Arizona Deer Point Options

LAST EDITED ON May-04-10 AT 10:52AM (MST)[p]I am trying to figure out in which Arizona units I have a mathematic chance of drawing with less than max NR points. I have 10 + 1 loyalty = 11 NR deer points.

I've been studying the MM & HF charts and I know I have no chance at units 13A & 13B late, but what about 12AE late, 12AW late and 12BW late? HF mentions some of these tags were drawn by guys with 11 points in 2009. What I can't figure out is if my 11 points realistically puts me in the hunt. I don't think so.

If not, I was looking at the units 39-42 Dec. muzzleloader hunt as an option. MM claims it's a 7 point unit, but I don't know what my real chances are there. Does anyone know appprox. realistic chances for these given my points? Thanks.

If you have eleven points and having taken hunters safety to get to 12 points you should really consider it. With the number of points, you would really be wasting them on units 39-42. As much as a couple of guys on here talk them up, they certainly aren't in the same class as the 12 and 13 units. 12Aw late, 12 ae late, or 12bwest late would be great hunts and you are in the running. The terrain in these units is not like traditional mule deer hunting areas, so you should consider a guide or you may well be disappointed. Stick to your guns and get a late hunt you have already waited this long
