David is on my list of people I want to meet, he seems to be an incredible human being, he has forgotten more about mule deer than I may ever know

Wow. Amazing story and article jared. Congrats on a great hunt! P.S thanks for the SD tips last year! Ended up with a decent 4x4 but saw some great country and will be back in a few years for sure.

Jared
Now I have find a EBJ magazine to read the story. Glad you had a good year and killed a good one.
Maybe this fall we will see ya Back in SD for Pheasants.

Rub some dirt on it, ya sissy!

Bloomgren, I'm sure you had an absolutely fantastic time in the hills last year. Maybe i'm a little envyous i wasn't able to rub shoulders with david or take a fine buck with a bow. You sure do get down to business on your hunts thats for sure. Did you ever end up checking on any of those places I suggested you look at? Kind regards my friend!

Jared, I myself have killed some very good animals one of which made the cover of a VERY good and popular mag. That mag called me requesting the story and THEY put it on the cover. It was a solo D-I-Y hunt. I can guarantee nobody on this site or any other, for that matter, knows it was me on the cover. I do not feel the need to gloat on a public forum to give me a name in the hunting world, being anonymous is a great feeling you should try it!

Congrats on your sucesses over the last few years but try it without chest beating and name dropping.....

LAST EDITED ON May-20-10 AT 08:46PM (MST)[p]Understood. I dont choose to hide behind an alias. Not saying everyone does but a few sure do. I am not beating my chest or name dropping. Not sure where that came from but I am a hunter who likes to share his experience with others. Those who want to read my posts or various articles can and those that don't agree may want to think about being a little more considerate. Ya know how the old saying goes....If you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all.

So to anybody out there that is proud and want to share what they got going let it be known! I and many others will gladly support you but there are also a few that will critisize you for the things you do. Be prepared!

Bloom, I don't get Eastman's any more so I haven't seen the article but thanks for sharing it.

To you other guys that are bitching: Just imagine what an incredible magazine EBJ would be if NO ONE sumbitted ANYTHING - NOT. You guys need to find something else to complain about. I had an article published in Eastman's years ago about my son's hunt. I took so much crap over it that I'll never do it again.

Stories about real people doing real things are what made Eastman's and other magazines worth reading. Articles by professional hunters hold no entertainment value at all for me. Give the guy a break.

Jared is a very nice person that loves to hunt. He also has a pretty good talent for writing stories and likes to share his adventures with everyone. He will talk to anyone who wants to listen about his adventures and you don't even have to be famous in the hunting world. I don't know how he became involved with the Eastmans or David Long but I don't care they are just people.

He grew up in a town of less then 2,000 people in SW ND and has done alot for himself on his own.

He has worked hard to become successful at hunting. His knack for writing is probably what has gotten him some name recognition. I know his writings are very detailed orientated and gives you a since that you are on the trip with him. Some people like it and others may not who cares.

As far as being proud of what he has done he should be. He has taken some great animals DIY. I don't see anything wrong with sharing stories on a public forum or a magazine. I guess the reason people by magazines or check out Monster Muleys is to read about others accomplishments and maybe get some info that they can use.

I usually don't go defending people on this website but I have known Jared for years and know that he is just a normal person who has a hunting addiction and loves to write and share stories about it.
