With 16 NR Colorado deer points, I still did not draw my area 21 tag. Go figure!
According to last year's results 13 points was a shoe in, so either lots of people holding on are finally cashing in or somehow my points don't really count!
Anyway, it is a little frustrating and I just wanted to vent!
Have a great day, and yes I now have 17 points!

Don't know how you do it, I finally got 5 this year and thinking about cashing them in next year. I know I won't ever have 16!

Hope you got a plan B.

Honestly I think youre wasting youre time... There are NUMEROUS units in the state that have just as good or better quality of deer than unit 21. Quality has seemed to go down in 21 over the past few years and the point creep is only getting worse. I would reccomend a high country rifle hunt if you are physically up to it. There are alot of big deer in the high country and it takes alot less PP's to draw a tag. Look into a area 43 early rifle tag....

I also had 16 pts but looking at the odds, there was only a small chance at getting a 21 tag. I decided not to wait any longer and drew for a 3rd season 61. I was tired of waiting for these glory tags and "settled" for this one(truthfully, I'm pretty excited right now). we'll see if I made a right chioce come november. You could still be 3 or 4 years away with the amount of people with 16 er 17 points now. good luck for your other draws.

16+ years just to hunt a mulie. The system is obviously broken. That is ridiculous. If the DOW would get their schit together, the whole state could be good again, and there wouldn't be anymore of this waiting crap, just to shoot a mature deer.

I agree with coloradoboy. I have lived around 21 my whole life and can't see ever using up more than about three points for that tag. Sure there are some good ones but most people don't kill anything over about 150. Its definitely not worth wasting sixteen points. Actually the thought of that almost makes me sick to my stomach for you.

Not sure if you should say "still" or not as you would have definitely drawn it last year with 15 and a good chance with 14 (28%). It looks like everyone came out of the woodwork for the later dates. Next year is your year!

Same here. I'll have 5 points for next year. Wantd to cash them in this year, but wont have time due to other hunts in another state. Most of the hunts in CO I want actually only take 2 or 3 points. I couldn't imagine waiting 10 or 20 years for a hunt, especially unit 21. Lot of bucks there, but almost all are 150 to 165 class deer. I can find those type of deer in units that take only a couple points. There has been way too much hype about 21 lately, hence the crazy point creep. I tend to stay away from units that are hyped up in magazine and the internet.

Dang the luck Rick!

Sorry for ya bud----except for the lil' hunt you already have---you are hunting a Dall Ram this fall!!!

How is breaking in that new backpack coming along?

Just think there is people in Wyoming that want this system.
The biggest problem with pref point systems, especially CO's system is someone has to be the last in the Max Pref point pool. This Virtually guarentees you have one chance at a premium tag if your in the last group of people to draw. CO could fix their point system by making people use their points to hunt every hunt, instead of not making people burn their points on 2nd choices. If It came between hunting or not hunting you'd see the point creep come back down in a hurry, especially residents.

I say let them wait I hope it takes 20+ years for him to draw. One less guy that could be putting in for the tag that I want.

Pay a few bucks in a private unit that takes 1-5 points. How much is 16 years of your life worth?

I also have 16 n.r. points, I never thought it would take this long, but I also have not wanted to hunt colorado in the last 7 years, to many other hunts that I could and did draw. I would say the guy was luckey not to draw unit 21 from the info. I have gotten. Great hunt , just not alot of the true big monster bucks. thats my observation. 61 4th again great hunt ,but the reports have not been good from last years hunters. but all and all it is hunting and any controlled hunt will be fun , good luck guys and dig one of those big boys out of the woodwork, for myself I just colloected a point I have other plans again this year.
