Drew a public land permit in Unit 30 in NM. Anybody have in useful info? thanks

Lots of deer in that unit. You shouldn't have to hard of a time finding them.

Yes lots a deer but small also, Rim road off the guadalupes.

Good advice given here. The foothills also hold deer, but my experience down in the lower country is that the deer like to bed in the mesquite draws. I was surprised how many deer we jumped out of the bottoms. They can be anywhere in that country. Last couple of times we went, we hunted the north end of the unit around sergeant canyon/deer canyon. We just camped right there with the deer (and snakes and mountain lions).

Yep, go south down 13th street out of artesia. Once you pass atoka road look for the house with the wind generator. There is a very flat draw thats just to the north of the house. It is loaded with mesquites and has a 160 to 170 buck living in it. You will have to get permission to hunt that flat desert land first though. good luck. lol

BTW. come to my house. We can sit in my second story and shoot a nice buck out of the pecan orchard on the edge of town with my 50 bmg
