Hello everyone! I am new to Monster Muleys and wanted to know if anyone can give me some ideas on my upcoming Spring Turkey Tag in Arizona (unit 9). I consider myself to be a good turkey hunter, my only problem is I never been to unit 9 and have no idea where to start. Any general information about the unit would be great. Thanks in advance for those of you who would be kind enough to help out!

Try the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Go to Tucyan and head to Grand View. Don't know if you'll find anything but there are turkeys every where.

P.S. Welcome to MM, haven't been here that long myself. The FS roads you need to find are like 302 & 305, (I think).

It's been years since I bowhunted elk in unit 9, but I saw a lot of turkeys and some nice toms in the country a little south of Grandview Point. Go to Lockett Lake and hunt west from there and you should find birds.

All along the rim road, from Grandview to Upper Cabin. Most birds are from the turnoff to Russell Tank going west to Grandview. All that country is good. North of Grandview too, below the rim that is. We've taken birds north of Russell and south of Lockett Lake too.
Ride a long the Rim Road and do some coyote howling to locate them. I use the Sceery Howler and works great for that country.
The country north of the Rim Rd, as a lot of canyons that have those big pines that they like to roost in and lots of oak trees, etc.

Wow! Thanks you guys! Sounds like I have to do a little homework now to find these spots. Thanks for all your help. If you need any elk or antelope help let me know. If I get into the "Toms" I will let you gentlemen know. Once again thank you for your time and pointers. Good luck to you all in your upcoming hunts!

I assume I can access these roads from Hwy64?? Does anyone know of any road closures due to weather or bad road conditions?
