Awesome,I drew 102 deer also. But not my 31 elk..Your son has got a hunt to remember for a lifetime..Be sure and take lots of pictures..And if you could get deer and elk picture with both animals in same picture.Do you realize how many covers of magazines he would be on!!!Anyway good luck and dont shoot them all..Have you been in the unit sense its bad winter a couple years ago?JUst wondering about how the deer numbers..PM if you want, thanks kelly

Congrats to you both!
I love hunting with my son, and I am sure you do as well! You can be the camera man and take lots of great footage to remember a fine Fall!
Good luck

Nice I drew 102 also, and unit 4 Bighorn sheep looks like I might be running into a few of you. Can't wait till my kid's are old enough to hunt the big game. Congradulations I'd have that kid picking lottery numbers if I where you

Thanks, guys, for the kind words! My son is excited beyond belief. He really wants to kill an elk bigger than dad's. I'm seriously considering turning back in my 21 second season Colorado deer tag so I can focus on his hunts.

dude its a no brainer....do the son's combo.

Congrats on a great tag!!! Best of luck with both of his hunt!!! Keep us posted and as for your Colorado hunt - if you draw this year you can turn it back in and all but be sure to draw next year. Two great hunts for your son is where your efforts should be this year. You will enjoy and remember his hunts longer then you would your own. ENJOY and congrats!!!

Yo D....

Ya know I will give any intel I can share with ya if you need it......

Even though you are a ressy now! ha

Kid is on fire 'aint' he!

Robb

Thanks, Robb! A guy can never have too much intel when it comes to these rare permits. I'll gladly take any info you're willing to share.

Being a ressy for my kids' hunting opportunites was a big factor in moving back to Wyo.

And, yes, the kid is on fire. He's already let me know he'll best the old man's deer and elk (I'm hoping he does).

Wow...Congrats to you and the kid. You may want to hunt them all so that you can leave a few tags for the rest of us next year. HEHE If you are interested, I sure don't mind sharing where Kortney and I have seen some nice deer and took ours over the last few years. I sure would like to see your son get a monster. We will have to sit down some time and take out the map. I think I told you we saw an absolute stud last year.
Paul

Doug, continue our private email communication as I had this tag in 2001 and know a lot about it. What are your expectations for the hunt and can you hunt the full last week?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-07-10 AT 03:08AM (MST)[p] I never seen a difference in first week or 2nd week.....
In buck numbers or quality....there just there...hunt for the 180+ and you will get your chance.
and this will also be my 6th hunting season there.....

just saying 1st week or 2nd, I never seen what difference it made, hunted 2 times for deer and seen 190"'s at night in the headlights, seen 180"s during the day, the other 3 hunts were antelope and seen plenty of nice bucks everyday....my deer hunts were taken in 99,01! stinky hunts were both sides of the road in 2000, 2001(combo stayed 3 weeks), 2003! deer both 3x4 about 30"/32"! I have the 2 weeks off and will be in the Blue Provost 40'er parked at the top that towed a paper plate Bite Yellow Jeep Rubicon...you can't miss it! I set up a driving range so look for the green rug and my Golf bag!!!!lol
seen alot of bulls and moose!
this year I have all high end optic (swarovski binos, HD spotter, rifle scope! So I am hopeful!!

I have seen the difference and if you had to choose one week or another I would go for the second week.

The deer in 102 rut a little different than the bucks from Region G etc. I've seen years where the peak of the rut in 102 is going on and the bucks in G and H are only beginning to show the signs of pre rut.

GL Dwalton your son is going to have a fun hunt for sure!

What the Hell Rack no hottub, what kind of place you running.
And you need a horseshoe pit too.
