Saw these two on the same day about thirty miles apart.

who knows i guess its possible. but he first thing i would look at to say no is the nice eye guards on one and nothing on the other one.

Sure look to be much the same to me. The second buck is younger, but he could sure grow to be like the 4 point. Their grandpa might have been a travelling salesman.

i'm guessing distant cousins at best. given the eye-guard difference and differences in their main beams, i dont think they are brothers.

like i said...just a guess. thanks for sharing the pics.

yeah, the lower buck has a receiting hairline and the top buck has a darker head of hair. no way they can be related. close though...

That first one would ge a great addition to my wall... Most bucks that go over 160" are definitely wider than him. I'd love a narrow-horned, 160" plus buck... If he aint it this year, he will be next...
As for the question- they are similar. To say they are same genetics is a stretch, but when you consider how big, oh let's say, the Book Cliffs are... 30 miles is not a lot for genes to travel. That 3x4 gene in the Books stretches across the majority of the unit (Road Area), so yeah, there may be a connection...
Thanks for posting.

Probably related about as much as you me.

Thousands of deer, a bizillion strings of DNA......and really, these just aren't that close except for similar racks.

I can show you hundreds of deer in California and Colorado with that same basic structure/look.
