Early Rifle Colorado Unit 012 or 043?

We now have 8 points as non-residents and we're starting to look at mule deer hunts in 2011. We'd prefer the early rifle season, so we're concentrating on units 12 and 43. Probably do a drop camp hunt due to costs, so I'd like to know people opinions on both units for older deer. Any opinions on the units mentioned, or others? Does one have a higher population of bigger deer? Also, any outfitters people have used in either unit that they were happy with?

Thanks
Jay

The deer numbers are way down in 43 as well as buck to doe ratios. Don't know anything about 12.

Interesting news, thanks. Any suggestions of other units to look at for early rifle mule deer or ML deer?

The high country in Unit 82 has put off a few giants. I think the early Sept. rifle may take more points than what you have though.

Thanks. I believe 10 points would be needed for a NR. Talked with DOW biologist for Unit 43 and she confirmed the earlier post about not many trophy buck and ratio being a little screwed up. Now thinking about muzzleloader hunt in high country, so we're back to the drawing board!
