Here is my 2010 general season public land archery buck. This is my second year with a bow. Last year I killed a dink 4 pt just to get the feel and this year a little better one. 30 yards with the Tekan T3 from the 82nd Airborne and it was all over for this guy. Any guess on the score?

Thanks to Brandon, Abe, and Travis we got him off the hill in one trip!!!!

Awsome buck. I guess 155-160?? Very good buck and im sure worth every effort you put into it. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-05-10 AT 09:29PM (MST)[p]Dang, he has like 7 chins in the first pic! What a fatty. Nice country and great deer, I'd guess low 170s gross.

That's a great second archery buck, Congrats! It's going to be really tuff to now get a better one next year if that's your goal.

I'd guess that buck to score near 177, a Dandy!!

He is a Western Montana buck. We taped him out at 184 gross and 171 net. He has some eye-guards that go backwards and that in-line fith that helps on the gross. His main beams are 25 and 26" and those G4's are 13 and 14" so that front end helps out a lot.

Can anybody tell me what the difference is(if there is one) between gross score and P&Y non-typical score?

Nice buck, Congratulations.

I hate it when I wake up in the morning and Barack Obama is President.

nice buck I was going to guess in the upper 180's. the difference between them is your score is your typical frame deductions. you have your 4x4 frame then the extra's that is your gross nontypical score your net score wich would determine were you place in the book is your gross score minus your typical 4x4 left to right diferences. hope you can understand what i wrote and congrats on the deer

LAST EDITED ON Sep-12-10 AT 10:37PM (MST)[p]That is lame. So even in the non-typical world it still comes down to symmetry? No wonder SWBuckmaster says nets are for fish. I'm taking the gross score. My taxi used to be an officail scorer and he says 182 4/8 gross and 169 1/8 net...........

I still can't sleep at night. The sight of that buck sinking into the ground with the life going out of him and the other two bucks that were with him looking around because they have no idea what is going on is something I will never forget!

Great buck stubaby. (although I feel silly calling another guy "baby" LOL)

You make it sound like it was no big deal to kill a good buck with a bow. You have acheived quite an accomplishment and should be very proud of you buck, skill and luck!

Now go out and do it again next year!

My wife talked me out of a shoulder mount. You know, with the current state of the economy and all......someday I will do that but not right now.

Does anybody have before and after pics of deer that were killed in the velvet and then stripped and colored. The guy who is doing my euro mount says that I will not be able to tell that he wasn't shot hard-horned when he is done. If anybody has tips or pics.......please post.

Thanks,

Stuart

Thought I would revive the post.........does anybody have any before and after shots of velvet being striped and the horns darkened and polished???

Thanks,

Stuart

I dont have any before and after pics but I have shot three in the velvet. i am still waiting on my euro from last year, but i left them in the velvet and think it makes a good european mount. I dont know if you already had them stripped but if you havent i suggest keeping it if it is in good condition
