Spent all summer looking for a decent buck to put my tag on and was not finding anything I was interested in. On opening day I called a friend and asked him if he had anything for me and he told me of a buck that he had been seeing and told me to go and try my luck on him. I found him opening evening but had to be home early that evening for other commitments. Work kept me from going on the second morning but I was out there in the evening. (hunting only 30 miles from my house) I was telling my buddy the plan on how I was going to hunt the buck, when all of a sudden he jumped from the ditch next to the road and high tailed it to some tall CRP and wild sunflowers. I was a little bummed now but decided to stick to my plan. My plan on the buck ended up working out and he entered the field right before dark 28 yards in front of me. He ran about 75 yards, fell and was now my first archery deer. Thanks for the help Justin, and John for letting me hunt this buck!
