How goes it MM,
I recieved an e-mail early this morning and enclosed inside were two photos of a giant buck...the only information attached to the photos was that it was taken last day public land on the "Monte Cristo" unit during Archery season. It also included the hunters name and a few other obvious details about the buck, but no gross score...the buck is an extremely symmetryical 33" wide 6x6 with two identical droptines on each beam. Has anybody else heard of this buck yet, I know this thread is worthless without any photos...but I don't want to post any images without permission and get myself in trouble.

Ya,
I got that same email... must be a chain thing. Quite a pig though. His droppers had to be 8" and kinda uniform. I thought the same as you- dont want to post the name or pics.

Really cool buck though!

Geeze I've got this email from about 7 diffrent sources and saw it posted on the brag board at Sportsmans. So, here ya go....

i have seen some decent sized to big sized bucks on monte, but never any bucks with genetics like that. i would doubt that it really came of that mountain.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-29-10 AT 06:21PM (MST)[p]I thought there are no mature bucks on Utah's general season units. At least that is what everyone says.

Great deer.

There are no big bucks in Utah! LOL

Yeah, it'd be nice to get the real story on that buck... I know last year muzzleload huntin on Monte, another hunter told before he left the mountain that he had seen a double dropper buck... But what he described was nothing even close to this...
Also, with all of the private property on Monte, bordering CWMUs including Deseret, I wouldn't be surprised to learn this buck is off Monte... But I think it's a stretch...
Amazing deer

i think you were asking me this qestion bambistew...

5-6 year old deer would seem pretty mature to me. its hard o find but i will get topo maps and go 1 to 1.5 miles away fro the nearest road and this is where we see the bigger bucks. i have only seen other hunters in these areas once an it was a 15 ear old kid with his dad that shot a 7x8 non typical. my dad passed on a 4x4 27 wide (170 ish i'd say) because he wasn't comfortable shooting passed 300 yards. i hae surely seen some magnificent (i dont know how to spell that word) bucks up there, but one with genes like that... idk. maybe like posted before though, it definitl cold have come off of a cwmu, i didnt think of that before.

That's one of those old school bucks. What a great Buck
