until my Henry Mountains hunt. I can't even stand it anymore. Do any of you get stressed out before a big hunt or is it just excitement. I'm a nervous wreck. I stress myself out so much over the stupidest things. Questions run through my mind like, What if my gun is off, what if I can't shoot straight through the nerves, what if I've reloaded my cartridges wrong, what if I end up eating my tag, what if, what if, what if. I'm driving myself crazy let alone my family and friends. Are there counselors for the hunting insane?!

Ya sounds like you need a counselor. Haha

Jk man i would be nervous to. That will be an awesome hunt though. I Wish I had that tag! Along with everybody else.

Don't break any mirrors. LOL

I wouldnt worry about anything but where your going to put your deer mount.

If its too much for you to handle I could take care of that tag for you.. Just trying to be a good friend is all!

OHHH no I'm not picking a spot for the mount before the hunt. That's like a curse for me. Before my sheep hunt last year I had a spot picked out, the form picked out, everything and guess what? That spot is still unoccupied collecting dust!!

Having all my hunting gear stolen has added a whole new stress factor to this whole thing trying to get everything replaced. Most people would have a blast with $7000 shopping spree to any store of their choice but I'm stressing big time. Do I get what I had or should I get this instead and not replace that? It's never ending. AAAHHHHHH!!!!

I won't sleep well until that buck has hit the dirt.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-30-10 AT 09:26PM (MST)[p]When you find a good counselor, get me his number! I could use him. Just ask my wife. I worry about hunting about 6 months a year. And I stress about hunting the other 6 months. Good luck on you hunt. Kill a big one!
P.S. How did the elk hunt go?

Try to put the stress aside and enjoy the hunt of a lifetime. I wouldn't set expectations on what type of deer you want to bring home. Just go out to have a good time and see one of the best deer units in the state. Take some close friends and family to enjoy it with you and make sure to document your hunt in a journal and on camera. Just have a blast with a great tag and I think you'll see some excellent bucks and hopefully get to harvest one.

I have heard Dr. Jack Danials is one heck of a theopist. Has cooled many a surgeons nerves... you'll do great! Now you can't tell anyone here that this ain't one of the best types of stresses out there to have.

cjg Beef nailed it.

My dad had a PIW tag in NV 3 years ago and that was the most pressure I have ever put on a tag and I didn't enjoy it like I should have and it wasn't my tag! I think dad would say the same.

Slow down and fill YOUR expectations not those who will tell you it is a slam dunk hunt for a 200 inch buck.

You have a great tag and you deserve to enjoy it so do so.

Bill
