Doesn't the hunt start this next weekend or what? Have a great hunt and keep us posted if you are not already gone.

I'm actually already back home from the hunt, it started last Saturday. Awesome hunt! The Henrys is everything they say about it! I am sending a story into Huntin Fool magazine so I can't post any pics but if they publish it I will let you know. My buck will also be on display at the Sportsmans Expo in SLC in February. Thanks for thinking of me.

Well at least tell us what you killed. My friends wife killed a nice buck that had a 182 frame and 27 inches of extras. it was a 9x11 or something like that.

Congrats on your successful hunt.

Yelum

Hey Marley,, did you shoot your buck on the north end of ellen by chance??? Congrats on your buck and looking forward to the story!!

The bucks a giant for sure! Congrats..

I must admit I'm a little disapointed your not going to share your story with us, It's one I've been looking forward to hearing this year. Huntin Fool must be giving a good prize for storys. Sounds like your happy about your hunt, so you must have got a good one. Congrats!

Dang marley------

Many-many of us have been happy for ya and been real supportive of you.......

Alot of guys, over the years have posted a photo on a website and had an article in HF....

Anyways....

Glad ya had a great hunt and you certainly went with the top end outfitter.

congrats

Robb

Congrats!!! I bet he is a toad!!! Can you give us a teaser and tell us if he is a over 200" and typ or non? :) Cant wait to see him!!

Kinda chicken sh!t! At least thow a bone out there regarding size or something. You had a lot of support here. Many people are excited with your success due to the fact it is a tag virtually none of us will ever get.

LOL... I flip through the mags myself fldrw22... I'll look at pics, read a couple stories... Sometimes I sit at the book store and read it all, then put it back...
Do those magazines have advertisements in them..???

Anyway, this thread sucks without pics..

I agree with a few of the others. You got lots of advice and interest from guys here then after its all said and done you clam up. Kind of like going out on a hot date with a woman you lusted after. You get her back to your place and things are getting hot and heavy. She unzips your pants, breathes in your ear, kisses your neck... then she abruptly gets up from the couch and says she has to leave.

A short story and some details of the hunt would be nice.

Dang it Marley! I'm not even that much of a deer hunter but was interested in how your hunt went.

At least tell us how much you tipped :D

or if you used that new 300RUM??

oh yeah, Congrats on the buck!

Well said Feleno!!!

I have my story and pics on the Hunt Adventure Challenge and the guys from Muleycrazy still asked me to send them pics and the whole story for their magazine.......

Okay..Okay...sheesh! Definately well over 200" and nontypical.

When Mossback gets done with the other hunts they will be posting a picture up on their website. I told Huntin Fool that I would send in a story and pics the day I drew the tag so I'm keeping my word. Thanks guys for all the help this year. One more tag to go and hoping to tag another great muley.

Marley ,Post a pic Brother .I as well as the rest of the MM regulars have been interested in youre hunt since the day you drew youre tag ,You told us before you told youre wife and mommy .
POST a PIC >>>>

Is there a movie and book deal in the works too? How lame.

Did you actually need someone from Huntin Fool to tell you to put in for a Henrys tag?

Hey Marley way to go on a great Deer.
I am submitting my hunt story to Trophy Hunter, they were fine with me posting a pic of my Ram, just not many, and not the whole story.
So I will post it here again. I think Huntinfool would be ok with a photo on MM also.

My 2010 Utah Desert Sheep, full story coming in Trophy Hunter.

WOW....Shotgun, why all the hate. I'm not getting anything out of Huntin Fool for the story or from anyone else for that matter. I get the Huntin Fool for the stories and pictures, the same reason I am a regular on here. Huntin Fool wants exclusivity which I can understand. So does every other magazine. Mossback has all the pictures as part of my contract with them which I can understand as well. Both of them run a business. Pictures will be on their website soon and then they can be posted. The picture thing is beyond my control at this point, it's not because I just want to leave everyone hangin or because I don't appreciate all the help I've received on this hunt or any of my others. I do appreciate everyone's help and I WILL return that help whenever I can for any of your hunts.

Congrats on killing a monster! I'm looking forward to seeing pics and reading the story.

Marley's buck is on Mossbacks home page. Marly, I didn't get a chance to meet you down there. I just saw a pic of your buck last weekend. Great job!

There's no hate to you, sorry it came out that way. The hate is about what hunting has become. Exclusive rights, magazines, contracts and such, give me a break. Huntin Fool wants exclusivity, but they're not paying you anything. OK what ever.

You had to sign a contract with Mossback saying you would'nt post pics of your hunt? WTF?

LAST EDITED ON Oct-27-10 AT 12:10PM (MST)[p]Heck ya Marley!! All those kickers are amazing. Congrats on the hunt and it looks like a good thing insurance works fast huh!! Did they get everything replaced before the hunt?

Thanks guys. I will never top this buck but I will spend the rest of my life having a blast while trying.

Brent GREAT buck and I am glad to see it all worked out for you.

I totally understand about not posting the photo or story as you gave your word and you are just keeping it. Also every magazine has different rules about what they do and do not allow. Either way i can not wait to hear the whole story!!! I guess you are getting your money out of the new gun!!!

Thanks for the teaser. He is a pig for sure!! I bet it was an awesome experience. How many big bucks did you see that were smokers, but not the one? How many 30 inchers, low 200's, mid 190's, oddballs, etc?

Onedryboot...as long as it works and gets me that elk tag I don't really care which one lmao!!

Congrats on a badass buck marley!!

That's a stud Buck, Wow glad you made the most out of that tag and gave the new rifle a workout. Congrats on a great buck

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Nice buck, but, "Mossback has all the pictures as part of my contract with them which I can understand as well."?

Hunting, contracts? Sad.

Nice Buck! I was all of support for your hunt when you first came here for advice of what to do. Now, for some reason, i'm less than impressed. Just doesn't seem to me that you earned this buck, that he was in fact bought and paid for, maybe i'm wrong...but it sure isn't that you got a big buck and i didn't.

Like many said before, too bad you didn't DIY with a bud or two for help.

Joey

You can call it what you want. Makes no difference to me. My dad and my two younger brothers were there which was most important to me. We all busted our butts for an awesome buck. Got to see some beautiful country that I've never seen before. Got to meet and share a campfire with some phenominal people and walked away from the hunt with some new great friends. Got to meet some other hunters on the mountain that were just as excited about being in one of the most phenominal mule deer units in the world. Got to know some people on here on a personal basis through emails and other forms of help. Nothing you or anyone else can say will take anything away from this hunt. The buck is a buck, but the experience I shared with my family and the things I learned on this hunt are what sets it apart from other hunts for me.

They say when you go to Africa, you spend the rest of your life trying to figure out how you are going to get back there. I think I can understand that saying now because I'm already trying to figure out how to get back there.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, I really do hope that many more of you on here get to experience that place, guided or not.

I pulled this off of my original thread when I drew the tag.

"Doyle Moss not well liked? Oh i've seen some bad ink on the guy but a lot of that is just jealous talk. I think the majority here respect the guy and would book him in a second if they could and felt the need.
If i could swing it and on a hunt like that, i'd probably do the same!! Good luck!!!

Joey "

I especially like the part about "jealous talk", "majority here respect the guy and would book him in a second", and especially "I'd probably do the same."

Looks like you would've "bought and paid for" your buck too if you had the tag instead of me.

OUCH!

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

Marley, Like i said, i supported your decision when you first posted. I have come to change my mind, i said that to.

There have been many comments here that have been deleted that also have expressed similar views as mine. I came not to argue or take away from Mossbacks accomplishments because they certainly did their job.

Joey

You did come on here to take away from my accomplishments though. This is all your opinion though, so I can respect that. But you weren't there.

Marley, glad to see you took a buck of a lifetime. And good on you for digging up that other post...
I know lots of the Mossback guys and have great respect for their accomphishments. I know that even though you were guided, you had to work for that buck. The Henry mtns can kick your butt. There is some tough country down there and those big bucks know where that is, and they tend to move there once the pressure arrives.
With my new knee and fused ankle, I'm sure that I will be returning home after my hunt with a very kicked butt and a few more sore spots on my fat old body...but it will be well worth it.
Rick

Marley, You did a great job and no doubt there will always be one or two that just can't keep their mouths shut and say congrats. You experienced a hunt of a lifetime with a buck of a lifetime!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-28-10 AT 11:11AM (MST)[p]Marley Ill say this again! Mossback and the guys are some of the best hunters and guides around. Im glad you had a great hunt and came away with an experience that nobody can take away. Also a buck of a lifetime to go with that experience. I for one think you did yourself and tag the justice of not being able to scout and made the right choice! Congrats again on the buck and good luck in CO. How did the 300RUM treat you? PM me if you like

Thanks guys.....the .300 RUM was a charm. I put ALOT of round throw that gun this year getting ready for this hunt. The buck couldn't handle that 200 grain accubond very few and took a tumble after the first shot. Thanks again...I wish that tag on everyone for the next 3 years during my waiting period...and then I wish it on myself again. HAHAHA.

I understand why so many choose not to post pics of their animals on this website. Without failure there is always someone who has to downplay someone else's accomplishments and try to diminish their experience. Call it what you will, but my bet is for jealousy.
Congratulations on a beautiful buck. I am glad your hunt turned out with the buck of a lifetime.

For the record, I dont have any issues with guiding. If I drew that tag, Id probably hire a guide myself. Ive never been there before and would want to come out with a nice deer. Id want to hunt rather than point and shoot though. (Im not saying this is what you did. Though that is the general impression of Mossback Outfitters.)

However, I hate all this contract stuff and magazine deals. Ill be damned if I ever give photo rights of MY hunt to some outfitter or have a magazine tell me I cant post MY story.

Regardless, Congrats on a great deer and wonderful experience! May we all be as lucky as you!

Way to go, that is an unbelievable buck! I know that is has already been said, but don't worry about the naysayers...they're probably still trying to get their foot out of their mouth, anyway.

First off, congratulations, Marley, on a true buck of a lifetime. I'm envious. I suspect a lot of others here are too.

I told myself I wasn't gonna post on this thread but I just can't help myself. :)

The buck is yours Marley and you are free to post a picture or not, publish an article or not, hire a guide or not. My only thoughts are regarding what you said in one of your earliest posts. You said "Huntin Fool wants exclusivity" and that "Mossback has all the pictures as part of my contract with them".

IF Huntinfool was paying you for the article then I could see their point. Otherwise I don't see where they have any copyright on your story or pictures until they are published. Even then it would only be on those exact pictures and text published.

You have to sign a contract with Mossback giving them rights to the pictures of YOUR buck before they take you hunting? That seems lame as hell to me. I know several guides and they do not require that in their contract. Kinda proves a point about the whole guiding business and some of the big time names.

I guess the real question comes down to this: Whose buck is it? Yours? Mossbacks? Huntinfools?

Congrats again. And yes, I really do mean that!

That wouldn't get you in my door stinky.

great buck! ( but stinky said it scored 330")?

the only lame thing i see is pimping out this site for tons of info, then telling everyone to buy the magazine for pics. it's usually common curtisy to pay back the help you recieve, a simple picture and small story would have gone a long ways.
i'm with nevadabighorn, their ain't no way in hell a guide or magzine would tell me i couldn't post pictures of MY buck to whoever i wanted to,ESPECIALLY if i wasn't getting paid for it.

as far as the hunt, if i was a lucky to draw the tag, i'd thin about hiring the same crew for help.(well , not for long, cause i probably would croak at the pricetag..) but if i could swing it, i'd dam sure think about doing the same. they do seem to always get it done! congrats on a dandy buck!

MossBack has NEVER prevented anyone from posting pics on this site. Also, I believe the "contract" with MossBack basically says if the can use the animal photos/video in dvds or marketing. I don't think thats to unreasonable?

Great buck! I think the issue here for many people is not really just the guiding thing. We see so many great trophies killed by those who pay for the best tags, hire the best guides, and those guides pay others to watch for that special animal etc. This time it appeared that one of the common folk got lucky and drew a tag for the best area in the country and had the time and resources to fully enjoy the hunt and give us who dream of such tags someone to root for. Now it is a story that feels like all the governor, commisioner, landowner skip the line and pay for an army of guides tag that fill the magazines with monsterous size trophies and a picture with 14 guys in it. Mossback did it again. But I dont root for the New York Yankees and although they still get a ring I dont think the ring has the same meaning for those who join the Yankees that it does for those who lead the underdogs against them. Lets face it Mossback is the Yankees and you cannot take anything away from them. But dont be confused it is there accomplishment not the hunters. Replace the guy with tag with many others and the result would be the same. Replace mossback with uncle harry the results would probably change.

Marley:
Don't let the naysayers get you down. You shot a great buck; one to be proud of. You don't have to answer to anyone on here. I'm just glad you have put up with the crap and are still posting on this site!

I wrote that last post and then decided that I just need to grow a spine and let all the naysayers type away. Don't let your sticky twinkie fingers ruin your keyboards. There are a lot more supporters than big talkers on here so once again I appreciate the nice comments.

And to the one that said that I should repay the help.....I have always helped everyone that has asked in every way I could. That includes info on a unit, equipment to borrow, or a quarter on my back heading for your truck. I have absolutely no regrets and a story I will be telling my grandkids.

That buck is a stud. I don't give a ##### how you got it. I'm jealous I don't have that tag and you did. Good work man

stinkystomper - That photo is owned by Mossback, and you are not supposed to copy it from their website. When they see it and asked that it be removed, MonsterMuleys.com removes it. Since browtine works for Mossback, there's not much delay in it getting removed.
If Mossback does not want it posted, and owns the rights, then that is fine.

I have left your photo above and will let Brandon make the call on that one. It seems he was saying yesterday that it could be posted or something. You make the call B. Doyle owns it, if he doesn't want it posted, then get it off here.

The hunting world is getting so complicated these days....photo and video contracts, exclusive magazine contracts.....Geeezzzzzz
Someday, I wonder if the contracts will exclude the hunter from even being in the pictures? Maybe someday the hunter won't even get to keep the deer or elk, they'll all go to the guide.
Just crazy!!

It's a big buck marley. Good for you and Mossback. Mossback sure gets it done, time and time again.

There is a lot of misinformation, and distortion, of what was said going on in this post. I can't help but jump into the fray.

First, as was mentioned they are Marley's pictures, any contract, usually, just allows the guide service to "use" the pictures for advertisement.

Second, it sounds like the magazine isn't "forbidding" or legally stopping Marley, from sharing the photos. He has an amazing tag, some how he was in contact with them, they asked if he get a good one, to let them be the one to "show it off" to the world. think about it, if I see an amazing buck in a magazine, I may very well buy the magazine to check it out, if I have seen the buck a million times. I may not be as interested. It also sounds like the only reason that he is not showing them off, is because they asked him not to, he said I won't, and he is sticking with his word. There is no sinister, big business, big money, screwing the everyday hard working man here.

I am surprised from where/who he is getting some of the "smack" talking from, I read this site more than I would like to admit, have put several animals on for viewing, and have got mostly really nice comments, and support. Two or three guys who post on here have taken a pretty big hit in my eyes, and have gone down a couple of notches.

Marley, HOLY FREAKING CRAP!!!! That is a smoker buck!! Those extras, and daggers shooting off his backs give that buck an amazing look, huge g'4s big solid frame, a couple of in-lines a score of 230 gross GAG, GAG, GAG. That buck is what dreams are made of. Congrats on such a great tag, and for having your family with you. You did it right. That is what hunting is all about.

I am not sure where you are from, but I would travel to where you are at, if you could guarantee that I could touch that freaking sweet, sweet, rack for a couple of minutes. If that sounds semi-inappropiate, it may just may be, because I have an unhealthy attraction to huge mule deer racks. And that is one that I would love some "alone time" with. AWESOME!!

Marley,
That is an awesome Buck! Congrats on the buck of many lifetimes! I couldnt be happier for a fellow hunter who drew an incredible tag, had an awesome experience, and to top it off, came home with such a trophy!
I can only hope that someday I will have such an opportunity!
Congrats again!

Just crazy!!"

It could happen! If you want the BEST, you pay in money or other consideration. That consideration may be all rights, including the animal. We are all capable of making our own decisions. That's a big problem today, with this country, when someone in power makes up our minds for us.

I don't really like the way the guide system is because of the extra people on the mountain "pre-guides" competing for the biggest animals. Following the trophys day and night. Those tags are few and far between and as long as their legal, they have a right, but I question the right when they use their phone to direct the client to the trophy buck.

If I drew the Henries, would I hire a guide? Probably!!

Anyway congratulation on one great buck!!

Way to go Marley! that is something to be proud of.... I have lingered around on this site for a long time and 87% of people are too jelous to tell others congrats! Dont let them get to ya!!

Congrats Marley thats the buck most of us dream about. Maybe someday. Seeing the picture just makes me want to buy Mossbacks video to see the hunt. I guess call it advertising ! I know i want to see more. haha

Well, here's my take.....

marley came on here and announced that he got lucky and drew a Henry's tag. I think to a man, all of us were like "Wow, how cool is that? What a lucky guy!"

And then marley came on here and said someone stole his stuff out of his truck. We all felt bad, and some even offered to loan marley optics or whatever so it wouldn't be a financial burden to him. Some pretty classy acts, if you ask me.

And now, after some proding, marley comes on here and says "I can't tell you about it, it's a secret."

Well, great buck marley! Only I don't care anymore!

Eel

First, I realized that I was extremely blessed to draw a tag that I had very little business drawing. I almost felt embarrassed that I drew it when I know so many others had put so much more time and money into drawing that tag than I did. Believe me, I count my blessings!

Second, my stuff would've been stolen whether I drew the tag or not and I would've posted about it with or without the tag. I wasn't asking for any help, just venting some anger. I sincerely thanked every person on this site for any and every bit of help both given and offered and have paid it forward EVERY chance I have had. And I think there are many on this site that would agree with that. And I agree fully, some VERY classy people around here.

Third, I can and will tell you about every aspect of my hunt. I gave my word on day one that I would send a story into Huntin' Fool. Are you wanting me to break my word? From what posts I have read on this site, I can sincerely say that for most of you, your word means a lot to you. It means a lot to me.
