But I know the feeling of shooting the wrong deer!
I posted a thread a couple of years ago called "Book Cliffs Mistake" where I made a much bigger booboo than you did! lol! (I can laugh about it now, but it took a little while!)
Thanx for the podcasts, I have really enjoyed them!

Great buck!!!! Take me next year and I'll be happy to kill the 186 smaller one. Ha Ha. Most of all thanks for taking us along for the ride.

Yes, As a matter of fact,I shot the wrong buck on this year's blacktail hunt.
Those split second decisions have cost me, but it's all part of the game.

Rigth on dude! I've enjoyed following your adventure. You earned that buck for sure after all the time you've spent on the hill this year. What a way to finish off an awesome season!

When I've shot the wrong buck.... oh wait.... I've never shot the wrong buck BUT I have shot the wrong bull elk!

Unreal "mistake" buck!! I had that happen to me once, saw a huge 5 point whitetail, and shot a dink 4 point, I wish I could have your luck!!

A buck like that in the Utah General hunt is like a 250" deer off the Pauns/Book Cliffs! Way to go!
 
Congrats! Sounds like a nice problem to have. Just goes to show that when you hunt in the right area and do enough homework you will be successful! Good job - it has been great to watch your preparation this year.A


As far as shooting the "wrong buck", I think that is a common error that a lot of hunters have made. I almost did the same thing - and witnessed a couple of other hunters who did do that - but on a 3 pt. or better unit. I was darn glad I triple checked becuase I took the buck that was "better" and those other two hunters didn't.

That's a great buck and story! I can't answer for everyone, but I would like to shoot a "wrong buck" that looked like!

That is an awesome buck.. I have really enjoyed following your thread. I was checking about everyday for an update while the hunt was going on.. Thats sweet. After watching your thread and seeing all the hard work, preparation, hiking, cold nights, glassing, traveling, scouting, camping,and the list goes on and on I definetley have to label you "HARD CORE". I wouldn't consider myself cocky or irragent, but I feel humbled after watching the way you got it done. Do ya have any more tags? Once again thats just awesome. Maybe I'll have to hit ya up at the expo.. Congrats
