Where are all the pic's and stories from the Henry's and Pauns.
I know there were some good Henry bucks how about the Pauns.?
Let us know please!

Didn't you hear...?? Any trophy animal taken off the Henry's or Pauns does not actually belong to the hunter... They have to first ask permission from magazine publishers and movie producers whether or not they can share pics...

"Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!" 2 Ne. 28: 24

Correct!

This also;
Any animal which resembles a "trophy" is being shopped around for a book (magazine) deal. They don't want to share on the internet.
Pretty silly in my opinion.

Most people "share" their hunts and pics with us on this site but some just tease us so we have to buy the "book" when it comes out.

It all boils down to money or pride..... again.

Zeke

If I ever shot a trophy maybe I would do the same thing. LOL

>i hope all the tears coming
>out of you twos eyes
>ruins your keyboard....

Huh? LOL
Did you finally shoot a good one and you're the one looking for a magazine to take your poorly written article?

No crying here, just stating fact.

With love,
Zeke

No one makes any money off sending in a story to any hunting magazines. The only difference in sending into a magazine is that you don't have to listen to all the crap everyone says about you or your hunt. I love reading the stories and seeing pics on this site but I can really see why some decide not to share on this site. 90% of MM members are phenominal people. The other 10% are pure asses.

You have a point there! I do enjoy the magazines but I LOVE to see the stuff here too. I guess it's up to the hunter BUT the fact is if they put it here the rags don't want it. Too bad.

I've read some pretty low comments from people when they should be congratulating the hunter.

It is human nature to put people down to make our own little pathetic lives seem better.

Well maybe not cash in pocket but I know for a FACT at least two people (I personally know them, not a "friend of a friend of a friend of a friend") that were COMPENSATED very nicely for their stories by well known magazines. One 'gift' I'd value at no less than $500-$600. Thats pretty good reason not to post your buck on the net first :).

No I'm not naming names or magazines but they do visit this site.

My hunting bubby was "compensated" also. About a $1000 value. He's still shooting his compensation. LOL

Zeke

Yes, I know people get compensated for their stories but if every buck killed went into a magazine they would all look like a Cabela's master catalog. I would just like to know how the hunting was this year. Picture's and stories would be great. It would be nice to hear about those hunts without all the negative comments.

I really want to hear/see how everyone did too.

Please post your stories and pics. I LOVE THEM!

Zeke

Marlry said, "The only difference in sending into a magazine is that you don't have to listen to all the crap everyone says about you or your hunt."

I gave my opinion that i was less than impressed with your hunt and left it at that even though i took some shots and here you are continuing to do so, " The other 10% are pure asses."

I'm just not in to guys that make arrangements to get their story told in a magazine deal even before the hunt starts. I'm not into guys that hire a top "corporation" to scout for and then guide them to a super "trophy", give up their rights to the pictures as part of the deal. Though in the past i've backed because it is part of our sport, i've never really been into high dollar hunts, never been on one, and the more i see and read of them the less chance i ever will. I just hate the direction i see of what i've loved doing for the last 40 years or so, be so...commercialized!

You came to me with PM's, questions all about the successful Area 63 Wy antelope hunt that i had last year and i gave you the best i had for info and help...no problem, was glad to do so. I guess you didn't think i was such an "ass" then.

I've come to change my opinion on these high dollar guided hunts on private or very limited LE areas. I no longer think of them or the results of them as being the same, or near the same, as the guy or small group of guys that hump the back country on public ground, on their own, in search of a good buck and finally take a dandy. There are some here that kill outstanding bucks unguided off public with general tags near every year. I'll put their good quality bucks and hunts over a paid for turn key super trophy hunt like yours every time!

Is the kind of event you had on the Heneries hunting and does it have a place as our sport evolves? Certainly!! Just don't expect that some of the old school guys are going to be thrilled about it and hold it in such high esteem. I'm not, i said so, and i guess you feel i'm in that "10%" because of it. I really don't care!

Joey

Yup! That's how I feel about things SageA.

With that said I will probably hire a guide when my son (33) draws a desert sheep tag in our own State even though I've been on 7 unguided desert sheep hunts. This area is too hard to scout and I need to have those YEARS of experience from a guide.

I've been blessed to have been on several sheep hunts around the globe and 6 were guided because it was required by law.

I'm not bashing guides or guys with tons of money. I just don't like all the commercialization of the sport. Some of it is simply over the top. ie; You can't post your pics or else you can't be in a magazine.... or they belong to someone else, etc. Too bad!

Just my 2 cents,
Zeke

Again I apologize for the high jacked thread. Sage, I never pointed a finger at you. Did I think what you said on the other thread was a bit of a dig? Sure. Did I take it personal? Sure. But when what you have said on this forum wasn't intended as personal, I have respected. You as well as many others contribute to this site in many positive ways. I never intended my comment to single you or anyone else out. Most of the 10% know they are in that catagory and I am convinced that that is the catagory that they actually enjoy being in.

I think I need to clear up some misunderstanding.....Mossback does not have the rights to my pictures, they have the right to use my pictures and video on their website and other forms of advertising as they deem necessary. Huntin Fool asked me to send them a story when I called them to tell them that I drew a tag to ask their opinion on guides. I told them I would. Huntin Fool would like that story and pictures to be new. I can understand that, who would want to read a story in a magazine that they have seen somewhere else?

As far as the unit 63 info goes, you must have me confused with someone else. I've never considered putting in for that unit let alone had the tag.

You've lumped me into a group of hunters that only use guides to take their animals. Like I am less of a hunter. I hunt every year, not just DIY but SOLO in the back country with a backpack on my back and 90% of the time with a bow in my hand. This Henries tag was my first guided hunt ever and the Henry tag is the only deer tag in the U.S. that I would consider using a guide. Just wanted to maximize the tag during a season that I had VERY limited time.

No hard feelings.....everyone has their opinions.

Hell, if a magazine offered me a $5 Starbucks card for a story of one dinks I've shot.....Grande Mocha please! HaHa. I don't ever shoot big bucks so I've got nothing to worry about. This was the year though for me...but Nevada shanked me in the back and then laughed about it. :)

You guys who say you don't post pics. on here because of all the crap people say. Besides Marleys post which BTW is pathetic, magazine deals, movie deals, contracts and such, of all the photos and stories that are posted on MM right now go find me one negitive comment in any of them.

Anyway, all of you who didn't get an invite to star in hangover 2 or magazine deal or whatever if you would like to share your success we would(most of us) love to hear from you. So once again hey how did the Henry and Pauns. Hunts go!

This one was supposedly taken off of the Henrys. The email said 36".

Ok...no big secrets here. The pauns rifle hunt was slow. There were only a few good bucks taken. Here's the one I took on day six after passing him up on the opening afternoon. The body on this deer is unreal. I got one hundred pounds of winter meat off him. Now I just need a bag of taters. I could get into a creative writing gig here, but the truth is, I just found him and shot him. Not all that exciting. But I had fun.

Stop by my shop sometime Conch and I'll give you a bag of taters. Just got 50 bags from Idaho last week. Nice buck!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-10 AT 11:54AM (MST)[p]Conch,

Does this mean there will not be a Spinks Journal part III or are we saving that for Unit 9 next year?

Pruney

Pruney,
I don't have the english skills for part three. We will have to take our own scribe with us. Rambo is our best bet for a well written piece. As far as pro video of the event, well... were on our own.

This is plain crazy. I really dont understand why everyone is all over marley and his hunt/posts. Its pretty simple to me that he drew one of the best tags in the US and wanted to make the best of it. With no time to scout and learn the area he hired a guide that knows the area very well. He had a great hunt and killed a monster that nobody can take away from him. I also understand that mossback would want the right to use his bucks pictures and video as part of their marketing. Any good business wants the best advertising!! Also it seems to me Marley is a man of his word. Hunting fool asked for a story if he killed a buck and he is giving it to them. How many of you know marley and the events that led up to this hunt such as a thief breaking in and stealing all his hunt gear from his truck before this hunt. Or the months he practiced with his rifle to become confident with it. MARLEY CONGRATS ON AN AMAZING BUCK AND HUNT!!!!

Conch. Great pauns buck also!

Congrats conch. Good buck, good memories. Looks like the southeast side of Nephi Pasture. I love that sand box country.

Heard they were spread out above the reds again this year.

The biggest buck killed on the Paunsaugunt in the last 10 years(maybe more) hit the dirt. I'm sure details will be surfacing.

Here is a Henry's buck, but he is still alive and well!!

What is your guess on spread?
This picture is thru a spotting scope from about 900 yards..

WOW ! Very nice buck ! It will be a race for the shed hunters 'eh ? It's amazing that guided or not, big money or not, the caliber some some of the Utah bucks killed each year is awesome.... Jason Carter's PIG , Pahvant, Book Cliffs, Pauns, A 206 inch Southern Unit buck from Cedar Mtn., A Mt. Caramel freaky buck. I need luck enough to draw a tag..... and to be in the right place, at the right time.

BUCKNUTS,
"Life is short... Shorter for some than others." Buy a tag!
It's a tax deduction and besides, you ain't taking it with ya!
Buy me one and I'll let you have the first shot...LOL!

How about we add a carrot to the dutch oven?

"Shorter for some than others" You callin' me old? hehehe. The prices for some of these tags is out of my comfort range. I'm afraid that prices are going to get even more retarded too. I don't want a Pauns tag until the unit is growing some older deer... remember the days?

Carrots, yes. Maybe a few mushrooms too. wait a minute....your older than me.

BuckNuts,
If your going to wait for the Pauns to grow old bucks again...well then I think we will both be gone. There is no way under the current system that bucks of plenty can grow to the key five or six years old. "Bounty hunting", I'm afraid is here to stay. I'll never understand the thrill of taking a buck that someone else found. But that's just me. To each his own. It's rumored that habitat is the main problem on the Pauns. Someone forgot to send the memo to the buck I shot. I've never seen a deer fed so well. Maybe he was eating alfalfa all summer. I don't know.
Now back to the dutch oven. It's time for cheese and diced Jalipino. Dang, I'm going make myself hungry enough to fire up the coals.
And, oh yes... I remember days of old. Sad indeed!

To hell with the deer, WHEN DO WE EAT?
All this dutch oven talk is making me hungry!

I just had some great dutch oven cooking in Big Piney Wyo this last weekend. I saw some cool deer too. One buck was 30" wide (approx) with 4 points on the right and a huge spike on the left. I've never seen one like that before. The points were NOT broken off, he simply grew that way this year. He had a huge body, probably an over-the-hill buck.

Zeke

Change is needed on the unit for sure, any changes made takes years to see in the herd. Your buck is a "fatty pig fat" for sure, well fed.

Cheese, yes. I'm out on the jalapeno peppers, they wreck me.

Got any picts or info on the Cedar Mtn Buck and/or the Mt. Carmel freaky buck. I have trail camera picts of a buck near Mt. Carmel that I watched all summer and couldn't close the deal during the hunts. Don't know what happened to him?

Lets see it! I hunted Mt Carmel a couple of years ago.

I PM'd you my email address. If you want, you can send it to me and I can post it.

I don't have pics of the Mt. Caramel buck. The Cedar Mtn. buck I do....however it's one of those "please don't share" deals. My guess is Eastman's Journal will get the story. The Paunsaugunt buck is a real snot dripper (effin' huge), I have no pics of him either..... not sure where that story will be surfacing.

Is the Pauns. buck the one they shot in the fields by the town of Tropic. Apparently two years in a row they have shot very big buck on private property.

Got any info on the freak buck? The one I was watching had a double main beam. Just wondering if he made it.

Double main beam on his right side, yup.

Pauns buck taken in the southern end of the unit.

Any more info on the Mt. Carmel buck. I have over 500 trail camera picts of it and would really appreciate anything you can tell me.
Thanks in advance

Shoot me an email.... I'll be on the road till Sunday & I'll reply when I get back....
