Now that I have spent just about every last dime driving back and forth to the bookcliffs I need to find my daughter a doe to put down with her bow. In an effort to not spend any more cash driving along the front I thought I would put the word out to see if anyone knows of a good spot. She is not a hiker, she likes warm weather and to be totally honest she would rather just see one from the road and put the sneek on it. I live in the Ogden area so anything from Ogden to Bountiful is about as far as I would like to travel. Can you tell I am alittle road tired? PM with any ideas. And yes, I am looking for a honeyhole full of does.

Thanks in advance,

I actually hope no one responds to your request. Sorry but I dont think anyone should be shooting does especially around the ogden area.

I also believe if your daughter is not willing to work for an animal she might not have been willing to put in the work to get proficient with a bow.

The last thing would like to see is someone going out road hunting and sticking a bunch of does in the guts.

Sorry for my hard response I totally have no hard feelings toward you are your daughter. Just stating my opinion did I say I also dont like the doe hunt!

again I dont have anything against you in any way.

The harder you work the luckier you get!!

I don't care if she shoots a does I may shoot on this weekend if I strike out on bucks again, but you are most likely not going to get one off the road. These deer along the front see more people and are not tame. Get out and hike. I have seen 10 does on one of my hunts and 17 on the other this year on the Front. Most guys on here won't tell you were to hunt the extended hunt, because of the already existent competition... but I have always seen deer when I hike wherever I hike.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-10 AT 03:02PM (MST)[p]"are your daughter" you should have spent some time in grammar school. "The harder you work the luckier you get!!"

My daughter has been shooting for a solid year now.

And I do have something against you!

Geez boys! Getting a little worked up over such a small issue aren't we. If a guy wants to legally harvest a doe...fine. If another guy chooses not to...also fine. No need to get your panties in a bunch over it and start insulting eachothers (or thier daughter's) shooting ability.

Probably won't be real easy to get one from the road, as has been stated. I've hunted by butt off for days on end trying to sliver a doe up there in years past. They are pretty savy.

Have a good one.

Coming from a guy who wrote "sneek". HMMMMM.

If nothing else the comments have motivated me to make sure she gets her doe.

The comment about my daughter is what got me going. I dont know of another young lady that has put in the time or that cares as much about it as she does.

I was just looking for some help like I have done in the past in this forumn both giving and receiving.

She has worked her but off and shot for a year straight but she can't hike for a hour or 2 she need's it 85 and sunny with them standing 100 yard's from the road so she can "put the SNEEK on"
for 60 yard's then try a shot? Your a poor exscuse for trying to teach anybody how to hunt and really don't think you have ever gave anybody help on this forum if you have can you copy/paste the link that you did i would love to read it!
No need to tell me i didn't use proper grammer because i could careless!
have a good day

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-10 AT 04:31PM (MST)[p]Here's my take, yes Utah's deer heard are down.
But why are they having to hire sharpshooters for Bountiful? OH that right, everyone for the last 10 years treats the extended as a "trophy Buck" "that we get to hunt them during the rut"area instead of a management unit. how silly of me..

I hope your daughter gets her deer!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-10 AT 04:37PM (MST)[p]Watch the news bountiful is over run with deer! That fits into the specified area. Bonneville trail....?

I wish I knew of a spot but I don't. Sorry. Best of luck to you and your daughter. It is a shame when someone from the MM community is more concerned about having their opinion be heard versus helping someone out.
However, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. Sometimes you need to laugh rather than take offense.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-10 AT 08:03PM (MST)[p]I thought the Ogden extended area was open to take a buck deer only, from Aug 21 - Nov 30. You might want to check the 2010 guide book.

True. Ogden is buck only... wasatch front is either until dec. 1 which is Doe only

Thats where I am at, laughin it off.

Thanks to those who gave me some areas to check out. I will definately post the pics when she gets her deer.

Yes the ogden area is buck only. From what I could tell the doe area starts from I84 and south.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-10 AT 09:04PM (MST)[p]Mueler park above Bountiful pick a trail and go for a walk early in the morning it could not get any easier.
Maybe to easy!!

LAST EDITED ON Nov-05-10 AT 10:09PM (MST)[p]Yeah I hate to say it but I don't think you are going to find any deer off the road. Also I don't think anyone is really going to want to share any honeyholes because the rut is starting to get going and it is getting to the point where if you can find the deer you can probably find some bucks in there with them. I am going out tomorrow but I honestly do not know where to find does that is even within 2 or 3 miles of a road and I also am not hunting in the odgen bountiful area.

Wow!!! I can't believe the responses here? A dad who wants to help his daughter get a deer and because it's a doe you all lash out.

Maybe his daughter can't hike for whatever reason?

If you can't help a kid out then shut your azz up!! No offense to ya all but reading this pizzes me off!!!

Maybe next time all you mighty hunter ask for help people will tell you to shove it to!!

PM sent

I hope you find your daughter a deer. I would love to hear you write back that while she was going after a doe she came across a huge buck and managed to harvest it. I apologize for the brilliant individuals that surf these forums looking for opportunities to show how moronic they really are. They must have fabulous lives to have to spend their time making themselves feel better by deprecating others. This is a great site, but I hesitated for months and months to post anything because the site is replete with many like them. It really puts a sour taste in the mouth of those enjoying the site for what it is meant to be. Good luck. I have three daughters and can't wait till they are old enough to harvest a big game animal.

Your an idiot!!

Careful in that Wasatch Front bubble! You are entering the realm of Utah's elite hunters! Good luck and I hope your daughter has a enjoyable experience!

There are not enough deer in Utah...FOR REAL.
