There are no big bucks in Utah!!

The harder you work the luckier you get!!

Those guys are to slick, you will never see them till they post a photo of the big ones!! Then you guys can start all your whining crap again!

they used a rifle in an archery only area on a moose which is legal.

We also killed a moose with a rifle in an archery only area which is legal.

Just a Question why does there seem to be so much hate towards mossback? granted they dont hunt where i do in idaho, but it sure seemn to be alot of anger towards these guys just askin.

This Post is like all the rest LOL

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

How is it "Legal" to use a rifle in an "Archery Only" area? Did they buy a Temporary tag to use a rifle or is anything that Mossback does Legal? This goes to show that they apparently can do what they want and not have to follow the rules everyone else has to follow, and then we wonder why there is so much hate? BREAKING NEWS TO EVERYONE The Wasatch Front is open to everyone to use rifles in the Archery Only area if Mossback can do it then I am sure that all of the rest of us can as well if you have any questions on how to do this and not get in trouble consult with SWBUCKMASTER he apparently knows how to get around this rule which I would love to hear how they did it!

spotit1st,

Mix in a review of the proclamation once in a while. Its archery only for deer and elk. you can still use a rifle for moose and mountain goats. For that matter you can use a rifle for target practice, varmints etc.

They don't have half the state scouting for them. Just their kick ass guides cover the whole state to scout. My cousin Kalin Lemon is one of their scouts/guides and that kid KNOWS what he is looking for and where to find it.

Mossback has made a good business out of hunting for big animals. I say more power to them!!

Try reading the proclamation before you acuse people of doing something wrong. Its archery only for deer and elk not moose!

POOKIE
"They don't have half the state scouting for them. Just their kick ass guides cover the whole state to scout"

How many guys does he have to guide for him?

then go look at how many elk, deer tags get sold every year.
Even with all of these hunter's out in the feild the hole state doesn't even come close to being coverd!
So quit trying to put mossback up on a pedistal because your cuz is one of his rodie's!!!

Wanna bet he got ahold of the guy that was asking who had the gov moose tag and had that guy show him for $500 not one of his kick ass guide's then what are you going to say?

Ow well doyle just hired him the other day so then he showed him so now that makes him kick ass!

There is more jelousy in this thread than there is at my neighbors house during Bonko night. Mossback gets it done. Love 'em or hate 'em there is no denying that.

Loved the rant by the guy who didn't know you could hunt rifle moose in the AR only area. If I were him I would edit that post out before everyone on here knew what a DA he is.

No i'm not a fan no i'm not jelous! But when people come on here and say the thing's they do about mossback and his boy's like they are god's gift and better than every D.I.Y. hunter people get sick of hearing it.

No not half the state just anybody that know's about a big animal and need's a little extra cash work's for mossback is how i see it!

spotit1st
open mouth and insert foot. Its to bad you cant read a proc. If you could you would know where you can and cant hunt. Its prolly better you leave hunting the front to the experts. lol

as for mossback they are stand up guys and ive never had a problem with any of them!

Im probably wrong on the boundary but can you cut and paste where it says you can use a rifle on the Wasatch Front for Moose, I know you cant hunt elk and deer but I don't see anywhere in the proc that says you can hunt moose on the front with a rifle in the Archery Only Areas. Some areas don't allow rifles "PERIOD".

you can also hunt elk with a rifle on the front there is a cow hunt every year up there.

guess what you can also shoot a mtn goat with a rifle on the front

Funny but I had a problem with them, or least one of their cronies. About 5 yrs ago I was camped in Fish Lake National Forest during my Limited Entry Elk hunt. About 10:00 the night before the season opened there was a knock at the door of my buddies trailer. We thought it strange but answered the door thinking maybe somebody had a problem or something. This guy tells us we got to leave. No hello, how are you, nothing, just that. We ask him why and he says that we can't camp there because they had a guy coming in to hunt an elk and we couldn't be there. We basically looked at each other and told him that's nice and to piss off. He proceeds to ask us if we knew who he was and we said we didn't care. He said he was Doyle Moss' cousin and that we needed to move our camp somewhere else. Once again we told him to get lost and that we weren't going anywhere. He finally left but didn't look very happy. Very strange, we thought.
The next day we found out he had tried to pull the same strong arm tactics on the guys camped nearby. They told us that they told him to shove off as well. We ended taking some nice bulls as did the other camp. We heard later at the meatpacker in Salina that Mossback ended up killing a bull close to 400 on some private property just over the hill from where we camped and hunted. Have read some other stories over the years since about some other questionable tactics but have always left them for everyone else to judge but I know that incidence that night left me with a little bit of a bad feeling towards them. They didn't affect my sucess but still was very disconcerting. Wether or not this person was really associated with them or not I do not know. Maybe they just wanted our camp spot, who knows. For what it's worth.

Steve

Cut and Paste SW cut and paste. The Cow elk hunt is up by I believe mtn dell golf course and only takes in a small area the rest of the front is out wow there goes your credibility but cut and paste and your credits back!

And every high school kid with a Four wheeler( yeah we all know about their finders fees) Oh yeah and every woman with a video camera(spider bull) Your sentence is what makes a lot of us uncomfortable in the least, "Mossback has made a good buisness out of hunting" There are a lot of pimps who can say the same thing, don't know that I would be real supportive of that either, but they didn't don anything wrong in this case. I am curious though how southern utah guys know about a moose on the front. I know they are nearly magical, but somehow I doubt they just found this bull, bet someone else did, bet that someone got paid for the info, and that practice makes my stomach turn.

Could you please refer to the post "stalk vs. stock"? It's a bit hard to read when the story starts...I seen this buck.

its amazing how some people can find nothing good to say about someones success, they were up there for moose. dogshedd- the mullet has been retired haha

I shot my bull moose in an archery area with my rifle.

Here it is straight from the proclamation

To hunt bull moose, you must first obtain a bull moose permit. If you obtain a bull moose permit,
you may not obtain any other moose permit.
Your bull moose permit allows you to use
any legal weapon to take one bull moose on
the limited-entry unit and during the season specified on your permit.

99% of the people that bash Doyle would give their left nut to be were he is. Regardless of speculation and rumors, I know I am green with envy. Who wouldnt want a successful career filming and chasing the biggest animals out there?.

just got back from a Pauns. management hunt with a 15 yr old youth hunter. Doyle himself called multiple times to see how everything was going and to help in any way he could. Doyle is a stand up guy in my book..

Extended Archery areas are ok but are Archery ONLY areas? These areas have signs in areas and say that no Firearms are allowed.

I'd like to see the actual ref as to where you can & can't rifle/no rifle etc.....the "guidebook" kind leaves up to self- interpretation. Seems like they would clarify this issue a little better!

Jeezuz, I don't even live in Utah but am I gonna have to look it up and paste whatever the regs say so this argument can stop?

mod2.jpg

I agree but everyone knows that the Wasatch Front for the most part is ARCHERY ONLY except up by mountain dell and that small area, its just the way they interpret it I would not hunt on the front with my rifle even if it was a once in a lifetime, rules are rules and I interpret it as it says Archery Only and I will follow the rules unlike "?" Guess that takes all my credibility away right "broadside shot"?

Actually in a brief read of the regs they state that "any legal weapon" may be used to kill a mountain goat or bull moose in any unit open to hunting them if you have the tag. "Any legal weapon means the weapons described on pages 38?40 under Firearms and Archery Equipment". If you look, and I mean read, that sounds like moose and goats CAN be taken with a rifle in that area since there is a season and tag there. End of discussion.

mod2.jpg

is this mammothback shirass moose pics on the mossbacks website??? Sounds like it is a gawd dang toad!

Doyle and his guides are good at what they do, no question, its just sad to see that hunting has became such a big business!! its all about the $$$$$$

I bet there is not one of you cry babies out there doing WORK for nothing, So quit whining about a guy making a living, at a legal JOB! You sure seem to want to jump on a guy who works like heck and produces! He hires guys who can find game while you tools sit home on a computer crying about how you were told of a guy coming to this camp or that camp and asking you to leave. What a lame story, its always the same, Doyle this, Mossback that, whine f n cry! They blocked a road! They, they, they! OH MY THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION, OF MOSSBACK! STOP THE PRESSES! Never a conviction? Never a substantiated charge? Just you f n TOOLS crying, because your wives have your nuts in their purses and you can't go hunting all the time! I know one thing, I would never live in Utah, to many retarded, jealous, castrated Tools!

Ow doyley let me rub your feet you have worked so hard i love you! Your my biggest fan! Your the best you can hire guys to find the animls so good. Did i tell you i love you! I just might be kiss you if you want me to!

what a bunch of pansy's! How much did doyle pay you guys that have 10-15 post to come on here to say the this sh!t?

who has who by the nuts?

ELKTAPER,
Why don't you just say what you mean rather than sugar coat it...lol... good job...

Year after year a number of you make all the claims of all this crap, yet not once has anything they have been accused of had any evidence show.
All of you out in the mountains have some kind of camera, either a video, still picture camera or a camera on your phone...so if you have some evidence, then you can post it with your #####...
otherwise, get over yourself...
I have said this many times and never yet have I seen a picture surface...
I know a lot of the guides and I can't remember one time I have seen them do anything illegal. Doyle has always been very sociable to me and I think all your stories and crap is just that, crap!

I also can't believe that with all the video cameras and cell phones out there, no one has a photo of Bigfoot or the Lockness monster or one of the Mossback guides doing anything illegal? Maybe one of these jealous guys will get out of the basement and get the evidence, they always report that their cousins, friends, little brother heard about.

How many of you guys can say that you are truely passionate about what you do for a living? This season I got to meet and hunt with Doyle and Kalan, and yes even our beloved isayNUNYA. These guys are more passionate about what they do than any other person I have ever met. I asked them what they do in the off season. Their reply was "hunt". Tommy their camp cook (nicest guy you will ever meet) said that Doyle's wife sees him maybe 1 day a month year round. It's not just a job for these guys....they LOVE every aspect of it as I think many of you would. Do you really think that any of them would put this job, this passion, at risk for any of their clients? Why would you risk all of that over blocking a road or crossing a fence or anything else for that matter. Not worth it. All of these guys were truely happy to see their client on a hunt of a lifetime as well as any other hunters in the field. Yes it's a job, yes I'm sure Doyle does well with that job but so do you. I felt like I was hunting with friends that I have known forever. Doyle knew that having my family there with me was #1 priority for me. But my family was not in a position financially to be able to be there (food, lodging, etc). He made it happen for me and them and I can honestly say that I had the hunt of a 1000 lifetimes and so did my family. I wish I did something that I was as passionate about, and if I did I sure as heck wouldn't do anything to jeapordize it, no matter what it was. Any one of them have a spot near my campfire whether I am hunting with them or not.

Elktaper....
im glad you will never live in utah more big deer and elk for me. Thanks for stayin where you are:)

Why is it that those who have actually had an encounter with any of the Mossback guides or Doyle, and can put a face and name on them only have good things to say?
I guess when you are hiding behind your computer screen with a made up name you can spread all the negative ##### you want.

How come everybody with a bad run in with the ##### has to have pic's or a video of it? If they don't they are just making it up right. You wan't proof watch i think it's his 3rd elk video he has an elk he got beat to. By my uncle! Doyle had 13 guy's all around the bull. Still couldn't get it done!! when they all came poorring out of the tree's to see what the bull was all about he ask my uncle can i get some vidoe of it he said "NO LEAVE ME AND MY BULL OFF YOUR FILM!!!!!!" Well wouldn't ya know the slimmy basterd had his camera rolling from the waist why this is going on and he puts about 15 sec of it on his video.
Even when told NO yes you can tell by the way the footage is that he was trying to be sneeky. Thers some proof for ya but founder will delete this because it's real proof!

13 guy's trying to get a bull that just my 62 year old grandpa and my uncle out done them on didn't even make a hint to help at all which was just fine with my family! but what a bunch of stand up guys huh.

My cousins friend told me he heard about Mossback this one time on the Pavahnt___________________. fill in the blank. same story, different year.

damn, angry much? must have hit a nerve. What did I say?

No nerve just giving you what you people wanted some video proof so it just isn't my brother's buddy's cousin's dad's sister's husband go watch it! Why would he have some real bad clip on his video if it wasn't a big deal he would have great clip with the story and the hunter.

hornkiller
you sound like a buck in rut with your neck all puffed up cause your uncle just killed a bull. Man I bet the juices would have been flowing on that day. I know mine would have I would have just handled it differently then it sounds like you guys did!!

Did you ever think the 13 guys all came to look at a great bull on the ground. Maybe they were going to congratulate you guys for gettn it done. This is what I would have done if I was in the area... I then would have asked if you needed help getn it out maybe they would have if you guys didn't get all puffy!!!

4a7d1f93337c7fd7.jpg

The harder you work the luckier you get!!

LMAO! I agree, this is quite funny!

Some folks are getting their feathers ruffled the wrong way and then puffing up like a Banty Rooster!

Sounds like somebody has about 8 pounds of undigested red meat in his belly. That stuff will kill you, I know my cousins friend brother had it happen to a friend of a friend!

hey administrator dude please pull my post off with the pickture of my trophy these wacks are to interrested on winning about doyle to appreciate it

Nope i wasen't there and this was 5-6 year's ago. I'm not mad or getting puffy! Hell mossback even gave me a rifle he has never crossed me but for all the guy's comming on here saying that he is god and never did or does anything wrong they just haven't been around when he did or does. So i just gave you a little something to look at and see that he isn't all good and yes i do belive some of the other stories that have been posted people do anything for money then throw in some big animal's and it get's even worse!

Just keep this trash going!!!

Founder, I believe you maybe lossing an audience, or at least particpants on topics that may do wildlife some good. A good debate is good, but this is getting ridiculous. One person I know very seldom partipates anymore because of the attack mode some of MM Bloggers and when it goes on, and on, the credibility of your blog comes into question by those who may/can help wildlife.

LOL. classic feleno! I knew there was some shady chit going on up on the front when i ran into Kirt Darner up big cottonwood last week.

I saw one of those guys that you see on their films once while i was driving to southern utah. He looked at me when i drove past him. He had a cordial look on his face... I am sure they just got done picking up a ranch bull and transplanting it to MT. dutton or the P-vant....

I honestly think that if they were doing all this illegal and unethical stuff, eventually they would get caught. there are simply too many eyes and ears in the woods that can prove it.

i like their videos, i'd like to see more kid hunts and lady hunts on there. maybe even throw in a duck hunt. I'll suggest that on their web site.

Good Group of guys working hard to provide for their families.

Just a question and I am not sure of the answer. Weren?t two Mossback guides stopped and ticketed for trespassing with the spider bull? Would that be evidence of wrong doing?

I have met Doyle in the field one time on the San Juan. He seemed very nice. I was not overly impressed with him but I did not see him doing anything illegal. I have seen him at the outdoor expo in Sandy and he was very nice there.

I am a DIY guy. I would rather take a 180 class deer 340 class bull DIY than go for a 200 class deer and a 400 class elk guided but that's my choice. To each his own. Mossback is a VERY successful guide service and there is no arguing their results. They get it done year after year.

You need to change your title to Utah340Elk.

I came up with my MM user name as a joke. I am more of an opportunity guy. When I first joined MM the talk was about all the 400 bulls behind every tree in all of the Utah LE hunts. The biggest bull I have gotten is a DIY 344 bull in Wyoming so should I go by Wyoming344elk? :)

Back to the firearms on the Front.
You forgot to mention all the COW Elk Late Season tags South of Parleys along the front.
Also, keep in mind it's very hard on the front( salt Lake County) to be within a mile of a dwelling. Ill bet most moose, and cow elk hunters are killing within a mile of a dwelling.

snowman22250, That 1 mile rule in SL county was voided because it is contrary to State law, which is within 600 feet of a structure. Now you have municipalities (ie Emigration Canyon) playing games. They say we don't want people to discharge a weapon within 600 feet of a structure but we can't make a law that says that because it violates the state gun statutes. So they go to the DWR and say, please close our area to hunting--which is the main reason people are dischargind firearms.

And the state of Utah thanks you for that!!!! Again, what they do is legal. They are good at what they do. So are Siegfried and Jensen, or any other ambulance chaser. Being good at what you do doesn't mean what you do is all that great. Its not just mossback, its most of the modern guide/outfitters/tv show hosts, that have taken what to most of us is sacred and turned it into a video game. If your so sorry that you are not capable of hunting and you have to pay someone to drag your azz off a plane, haul you onto the mtn. and then set up your shooting sticks and tell you when and where to shoot, then cut and gut it because your pristine hands can't handle blood, then haul it out for you and give it to some "charity" so you don't have to foul you palate with wild game then mossback(and the others) most likely are your heros. If you found it, killed it and took care of it on your own you are most of ours. Good for mossback he made money selling blood, its legal, and in fact its probably not even them that we can't stand, its the LAZY, WORTHLESS, dogs that pay them. Yup I said it, LAZY!!

Wow, you must be one of those guys that never buys anything, grow your own wheat and make your own bread, because a guy like you would never be to LAZY to buy it in a store, where someone else has PROVIDED a SERVICE for you. Do you refine your own gas? I bet you walk to the hunting unit, because only a LAZY WORTHLESS DOG would drive a truck out there. Did you miss the point of this thread or what! Must be something to be so independent! You are my new hero, to heck with Mossback, it's HOSSBACK ALL THE WAY NOW!!!!

GO TEAM HOSSBACK!!!

I am making some team hossblurryback window stickers for free, if you are not a LAZY WORTHLESS DOG, and made your own glass, you may have one for free!
In honor of my new HERO TEAM HOSSBACK, the only person, that never bought a service from anybody in the world!

Remember, don't SELL BLOOD, JUST MAKE IT YOURSELF, THE HOSSBACK WAY!
