Why are so many guys on here desparately fighting for 29 units?
I feel like all the new regs over the past 20 years are equivalent of an $800 billion stimulus for our economy. Those who are accountable for the ineffective changes simply state, "it helped more than we'll ever know." That isn't acceptable. I expect the problems to be fixed when huge sacrifices are made.
It is clear from the options presented that the DWR does not have anything figured out. They are paid full time to be stewards of the herd. They are out of answers and collect their checks just the same. IT IS TIME FOR THE BIOLOGIST TO DO THEIR JOB AND FIGURE IT OUT!!!!
On the other hand I'm convinced sportmen don't have the answers either. We cut tags more than 100,000 15 years ago. That didn't work, so we've begged to cut dates, that hasn't worked so now we beg for 29 units.
At what point do we realize maybe we weren't so smart?
I spent more time planning where to hunt and who to hunt with this year than I spent hunting. I'm tired of getting ineffective regulation after ineffective regulation. The bandaids are about 1 inch thick on that sore.
I say to those who are begging for more restrictions, if you don't know why your previous restrictions didn't work, you don't really have a right to beg for more. If you don't know why cutting tags by more than 100,000 in the 90's hasn't helped; why are you so sure 29 units will.
Prediction: You will win the fight. You'll get your 29 units. The DWR will screw it up. We'll still be complaining in 2015 and begging for more restrictions. I'm tired of this broken record.
