My buddy shot a very large typical mule deer with his bow this year. He just had it oficially scored. We are wondering what the current official world record typical Pope and Young buck scores?

ever heard of "google"??

Is that the most up to date list? I have heard of google but unlike the Utah DWR I want to make sure that I have accurate information.

Pics not available at this time. I know post sucks without pics but I just need to know the most current record.

If your official Pope & Young scorer doesn't know difinitively I would recommend you have it rescored by someone more competent....no disrespect intended.

I'm not sure how legit this post is? I think the p and y score could be beat because of the unreal typicals running around now days and archery equipment is state of the art. But one thing I found with MM site is kind of a post up with pics or shut up ? No disrespect but with every phone having a camera and arrows and bullets that will soon have attachable cameras, there is no reason when the words ''world record'' comes out the pic ain't there first ??? Just my two cents of change obama left me with

Doubt its a new record but it would all make us happy if it was.

Well what did it score? As you can see the pope and young world record typical is just over 203 inches. I doubt it is a new world record for typical, but if it is thats awesome and I would love to see some pics.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-30-10 AT 07:51AM (MST)[p]The buck scores 219 1/8 gross and 210 1/3 Net. Would that make it the new world record?

Ask the guy your selling the pictures too, If we can't see them go somewhere else and ask. I wouldn't tell you crap either what a tool. Now good luck finding out anything.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Hooner, you are correct that there may be a bigger typical than 203. Christensen's Hunting Illustrated has a story in the current issue on Chad Kudlow's buck which green scores 210 3/8, but it is not clear if he's going to keep it in velvet, which is a different class or if he'll strip the velvet. If he strips it, it may beat the 203 world record.

So, it depends on if the buck you mention is hard horned or velvet?

My dad's brother's son-in-law stuck a typical buck in 2009 that went 218 2/8" (Left side only-the right had been busted off) oh and, scored using nothing but a wooden ruler by this one-armed blind-man we know... No pictures though... The camera was dropped into the gut pile which immediately melted the lens (acid for blood???)- and the video disk disappeared mysteriously one day when a tornado picked our house up and threw it over the rainbow... I have a camera pic that is blurry but I'm sellin it for a butt-load so I can't post it...

No pics = waste of time...
Waste of time = better than working...

I hope the buck is real. I hope we can all see it someday if we pay for the rights. If not- I guess we'll all see it on P&Y's website for free as the new world record...

It would be the new Pope and Young World Record if that is true. Congrats to the hunter, I'm sure it is a great buck either way. I understand why you are not posting pictures if it is really that big and I think this record will be definitely be broken soon and I am surprised it hasn't been broken to date.

To be a new P&Y world record it must me stripped of velvet and officially panel scored at one of P&Y meetings. You would have to have it first scored by your local scorer who would submit it, then have to be Invited to have it panel scored, and only then would it be considered. You always see "potential ww" but not many actually go through the whole process and beat out the old one.

Freak!!! You ball busting cry babies!!! No wonder there aren't many worth while posts on this site anymore. With the lead posse of winners such as D13, Browning and others...it appears the only reason you post is to make fun of or hack on someone. I used to love to get on here and read the fun informative posts. Now all I do is quickly glance the see if anything good has been added. I'm really surprised Founder hasn't gave most of you jokers the boot.

good luck Hooner, post some pics when you can. Thanks

SneakAttack, you are so right. I don't post much, mostly just look around, but it does seem that when someone posts up something such as this there are many people doubting the post immediately. If he has a new world record, i'm sure magazines are knocking at his door for the story and he can't post any pics for that reason. I'm sure if he has a new WR we will hear about it one way or another.

Congrats to your buddy either way.

Hooner,

I saw your buddies buck today. Tell him to post pictures and details. Congrats on a sweet buck!!!

Really....? Well it's too bad you don't like it here......but just in case you missed the point.....

"NO PICS...NO POST"

Why would anyone do that? ......especially when you know you are gonna get your azz handed to ya on this site!

Go to the bank and tell them you want to make a deposit, then say...."I don't have any money right now".

I call BS, since when did P & Y start scoring in 1/3's

"The buck scores 219 1/8 gross and 210 1/3 Net. Would that make it the new world record?"

Hooner, 210 1/3 is larger than 203 1/8.

Based on those numbers, I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes.

I'm not sure that 210 1/3 is a legitimate number for the purposes of scoring however.

I also am aware of the buck mentioned and don't blame the individual one bit for not posting pics. I would think most people would do the same as I am sure offers are flooding in for the story and who knows what else. I can say to the doubters on this post that the buck is very legit and has started the correct process of going through the local measurement process by two different official measurement guys and has been recommended to another panel. As a side note I respect the guy who killed it as a person as well as a hunter and it couldn't have happened to a better guy. He is in the process, or may I say the stress of deciding to strip the velvet or not and hopefully enjoying the whole process. Congrats.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-30-10 AT 08:29PM (MST)[p] What a bunch of Cyber Space tough guys. Kind of funny how butt hurt a few of you are about a couple of pics. Regardless the deer is legit it has been officially measured, notarized and the paper work is in the mail. It will now go to a panel of three judges to verify the measurements.
Congrats to the hunter and long time friend. It could not of happened to a better person who spent a lot of time chasing the once in a life time buck. It is a well deserved deer taken on a DIY hunt with just family and a couple of friends involved.
To all of you tough guys that want pictures you will be able to see plenty in the next couple of months as I am sure this deer will be the center of many hunting events.

GATOR- You have 7,283 post. Tell me who is the TOOL?

Sounds like an awesome mule deer......congratulations to the hunter!

Just to clarify for some folks, IF the original measurements are submitted (as documented above), the buck must be submitted for panel measurement and verified before it can be eligible for "world record" status. Unfortunately, the velvet will need to be stripped, as velvet entries are not eligible for world record status for any antlered species. The next P&Y panel is scheduled for the end of February, 2011 in Chatfield, MN.

I sure hope the hunter decides to send it to panel, as I'd love the opportunity to measure it!

I don't believe any of it! What a waste of time reading this thread without pic's!!!

Just for the record- I don't doubt the buck is real... I just thought I'd post an incredible story about a huge buck that I then couldn't really back up... Tongue-in-Cheek... Sorry SneakAttack

interesting to me that a guy simply wants to know what the current P&Y world record is and gets this much grief.

no wonder hunters get such a bad rap!

It sounds like you are talking about the buck shot by Chad Kurlow. If that is right, it has already been in Muley Crazy. Tell people that they can find the pics there.

I'll give you some pictures, I have a bunch video and pictures of this buck. He was close to the road, and I sure thank him make for some of the best footage and pics of the year. I can't figure out how to post pics on this web site, so if you email me your address I will send you some pics.

Thanks!
