LUCKY DRAW STORIES

Been looking at draw odds this past week for Utah and some other states. Wondered how many times people draw premium or limited units with little or now points.

Anybody ever drawn an incredible hunt or known anybody that has with little or no points? Let's here these incredible stories.

I know a guy that said after he drew an antelope tag at the SFW expo "if the draw was rigged I would have drawn a sheep tag."

he then miraculously beat the odds and drew the sheep tag the next year. go figure! lol

I wish the lucky tag lightning would strike me once in a while.
So far Ive taken everything to the max. Thus my distrust in the waiting game.

So ya really think the expo tag fix is on???? Naw!!! Really????

I never said it was rigged!

I just answered the ???? "Anybody ever drawn an incredible hunt or known anybody that has with little or no points? Let's here these incredible stories."

and that was the most incredible story I have ever herd of.

Neighbor drew Book Cliffs Bull with Muzzy in 2009 with 2 points... Turned around and drew the Buck Muzzy tag with 1 lone point this year... This after having hunted the Books in 2005...
He ended up with a 6x2 elk- 350 class bull on one side- then just a huge long spike that forked at the end on the other.
His buck was a perfect 4x4, 23". Scored about 155-160"- but it had 39" of mass... it was a heavy, small racked buck that was just a great trophy.

Lucky sucker finally has to wait a couple years before his luck strikes again... LOL

my buddy and me got the book cliffs archery hunt this year with two points after two guys turned there tags back i guess we were next in line.

pahvant Rifle elk. 1 point. friend of the family drew this tag after someone else turned it in. he was the alternate with only one point. that should give him enough time to put in and go again before he dies. lol

Coworker drew bookcliffs archery deer 3 years ago. Then bookcliffs muzz elk last year. Then this year bookcliffs archery antelope. Don't know how many points he had for any of them but his wife is ready to kill him for the 3 heads on the wall in 3 years! Lucky SOB!

I drew Book Cliffs (roadless) Elk in 06' with 4 points..
Took a 365" bull. Thought my dad was going to kill me, he was applying for the same tag and had 11 points that year. He finally got his tag in 08'

Three years in a row drew 3 great tags. 1st, 031 deer tag in NV....killed a B&C typical(3bonus pts). Then a bighorn sheep tag in WY(max pts). Next an Owens Valley bull tule elk tag in CA(random draw). filled all tags.

from the "Heartland of Wyoming".

I've heard quite a few stories like above.

Had a friend draw a good az elk tag first year applying, killed a 407" bull. Knew some people that drew nv sheep tags first year applying. Ran into a guy who drew a premium NR deer tag with 2 bp, they only give out 2 NR tags for the unit. It can happen...just not to me.

I drew nebo bull elk, muzzy, with four points and my little brother drew nebo rifle the same year with two points. my dad has ten points and my uncle has twelve points and didnt draw

I Drew a SW Desert archery bull tag with 3 points. It was a hunt I will never forget!

My wife drew Pahvant in 2006 with 6 points. Killed a 382" 6x7 after a week of hunting.

My daughter drew a desert sheep tag in 2009 with 9 points. Killed a 163", 12.5 yr old ram after 4 trips and 11 total days.

Sweet, maybe I should wear a skirt when I make application this coming year! LOL

LAST EDITED ON Dec-14-10 AT 07:35PM (MST)[p]I drew a 13B AZ strip tag and two weeks later drew the MT elk supertag

My Step Dad drew a LE UT Elk, 2 yrs later drew Pansaugnt deer, 1 yr later Henry's buffalo, 2 yrs later Uintas goat. He also drew unit 7,9 & 10 AZ rifle elk tags in a 5 year window.

Come to think of it back in the mid 90's I pulled a MT Gardiner late elk hunt tag, that same year my buddy and I drew Utah Indian Peaks (Southwest desert) early rifle elk tags for Sept. and then the next year we drew AZ unit 22 early rifle elk tags and to top it off he drew a Utah desert sheep tag. Not a bad run!

Prior to the preference point system, my father drew Wyoming sheep and mountain goat tags in the same year. Next year draws a moose tag, waits the mandatory 5 years, then draws another. Lucky old fart.

I know of two different people who have drawn Panguitch Lake LE elk tags for early rifle with no points.

I know a kid who drew a Pausaugunt Archery Deer tag with no points, and did it again after the two year waiting period.

I laugh (even though its not that funny) that this same post in 20 years could go something like this.. "I Won the lottery when I drew a Henry's deer tag with 30 points." Luckiest draw of my life..

LMAO! That's exactly how the post will read for us both in 20 years! Good luck to us both!

This year I drew all 3 tags I applied for in New Mexico this year and it was the first time I ever applied.

The drawing odds for my rifle antelope hunt were 4.32%, the odds on the elk hunt were 5.03% and the odds on the mule deer hunt were 46.67%. Computing those all together the chances of drawing all 3 tags was a whopping .10%! Statistically it will be another 990 years before I draw all three of those tags in the same year.

I got lucky and drew a manti archery tag in 2005 and killed a nice bull. In 2006 I drew a thousand lake muzz tag and shot a nice buck. Then in 2007 I was an alternate for a san rafel north archery antelope and killed a great buck. 3 limited entry tags in 3 years...now im done for a while.
My uncle also drew a desert sheep, a rocky, and a henry's deer tag in a 5 year span.

Shoot em till their dead

drew a wasatch le elk early rifle in 2002 with 3 points. then drew it again in 2008, the first year eligible after my 5 year waiting period, with no points.
