My luck was better with elk than deer this year, just curious if anyone shot big bucks this year in southern Idaho. Any big Owyhee bucks taken this year? And of course any Unit 45 monsters taken?

got a pic of a Buddy's owyhee buck killed in 87.
just got it officially scored and is going to the all time B&C
i cant seem to post pics if someone else wants to try,i will send it to em.
used to hunt the owyhees a lot till they turned it into a draw hunt in 1990, i have been putting in ever since but just cant get drawn..
i get kinda chapped when i see the same folks draw that tag over and over..
been doing a lot of chucker hunting in units 40&45 and have been seeing some extremely huge bucks.
have seen two pretty decent stags in 45 all year..
looks like the bucks have pretty much all dropped in 45...
i have some pics of some big deer shot in 45 back in the 80s also if intrested..

There was some pretty decent bucks shot in 45 this year. One that was well over 200 inches, he had a ton of mass. I'm pretty sure he was shot on private land. I have a picture of another buck that was shot there too, I got a picture that I'll post. Looks like it was probably a private land buck too. I think the muzzleloader hunters had a pretty good sucess rate, but there was alot of rifle hunters hunting in the muzzleloader side. Anyways, hunted in 55 we seen lots of quality bucks, but was able to get on any. Anyways...I think it was a fair year. Should be a good year this up coming year, lots a genes out there from what i've seen.

man i cant believe all the folks that hunt two point only hunts.
it has taken its toll on what used to be a great population of bucks in unit 40...

i was going to send a pic of a huge unit 45 buck but the person that shot it doesnt want their mugg pasted on the WWW

These are some great bucks! I love seeing good bucks coming from Idaho. I've been trying to draw on Unit 40 for the past few years. My friend drew the first time he put in on it. He ended up shooting a decent buck; however, we saw one out there that could have easily went over 200". He was big!

Unit 45 always produces monster muleys! Gotta love it! Thanks for sharing your photos guys. This is great...

runamuk,

My friend and I have also seen some dandy bucks out there in Unit 40. It is awsome to see them! You are right about the two-point only hunt, it is amazing to see how many people actually hunt that season. Crazy! I personally think they need to close it down for a few years to let the bucks mature a bit.

Thanks for supplying the pic. That's a nice buck!
