Just looking for gross approx. scores.....this buck is still alive and I'm guessing a 4 1/2 year old deer.

I'm in with you......I've watched him several times and was able to size him up with some other bucks. My guess was a shade over 180 (he has about 3" of extras on his left antler) He is going to be a pig in 2 or 3 years. It's hard to believe that "Oregon" has these kind of genes isn't.

That deer is definitely bigger than 160, probably 175ish. Here's a right at 160 I arrowed last year for comparison. This deer had a couple inches more spread than yours pictured but the forks on the deer in your pictures are much better. That deer might crack 180 gross but just barely.

The width is throwing people off I think, He a great young buck, with those deep forks he score s pretty good. IMHO I think he would score in the High 170's to low 180's right now.

Looks like a young buck that should go at least 170". As far as Oregon and genetics, you better bet they have good ones, they just have crap management. I have been in several small town stores and restraunts that have bucks on the wall that make your jaw drop. Most of them the hair is falling off and look like they were shot pre 1970 though. Has anybody been to the Adel store in South central OR or the hardware store in Enterprise in the NE. Some amazing bucks in there, many well over 200".

I'll have to agree with the other guesses at about 180+.
My last Colo buck from 3 years ago scored 177" (by me so it's probably a 160+ LOL). This buck looks to have deeper forks and less width so there's my guess.

18" spread credit makes him deceiving... But I honestly think with the 4" cheater he'll go 191"...
I have a 171" Gross typical and this guy's tines have 2" per tine on mine (3" on mains and G4)- puts him at 191" plus the 4" cheater to 195" minus 4" of spread credit compared to mine...

He's 191"

There's alot of experienced mule deer hunters on this forum.....what do you guys think he might be at 8 - 10 years old... gross score?

fly4fish I have been in the Adel store many times and there are some big bucks in there and most of them (I was told by the old owner) were killed in the Beatty Unit.

Hard to tell what he may turn into hunt2live. He has the genes but may never get the age unless he is on private land 24/7.I would say he has the potential to gross in the 220's if he stays typical and more if he gains more extras. Hope to see pics of him in the future and maybe some sheds.

....I'll let you know if I pick up his sheds. He's wintering with four other good bucks right now......if they don't move too much in the next 2 months I might stand a chance of finding them.

tryin to guess tine lengths and stuff and givin him three and half for mass all over 182.5

LAST EDITED ON Jan-04-11 AT 09:41PM (MST)[p]I agree that the inside spread throws most people off. I shot a buck in 07 that was tall and narrow like that. Wasn't thinkin' at all about score when I pulled the trigger. He was just a great character buck that I had some good history with, as I had filmed him for 2 years previous. I was shocked when I put the tape on him. He went 199 and change as a 7x7 and that is with a very weak G2 on the one side. BTW he is only 16 inches inside spread, 18 outside.
