Does anyone know if the Henrie and Pauns management permit process still have a certain percentage of the tags set aside for the youth and senior citizens.

If so, what page in the proclamation is it shown?

I dont think any of the LE tags are set aside for kids. I think they only set aside tags for the general deer hunt.

The harder you work the luckier you get!!

but dont quote me on that because Im could be wrong. I havent looked into the kid stuff all that much because my kids arent old enough to hunt yet.

I cannot find it in the 2011 Utah Big Game Proclamation. Is there anyone who can tell me where to find it?

I just talked to my dad and he drew the pauns, 2 years ago and he told me 33 percent youth and 33 percent seniors and the rest to general public.

I know that has been the case in the past, but is it in place this year, and if so, where is it written?

cannonball,
Just drive down and take pictures from the rzr or truck. You don't need another Pauns tag!

BTW, got a scaled quail watercolor original the other day. Looks great!!!

Yes they do. I think it's around the 33% for youth and the same for seniors. I'd like to see the odds broke down. I think a lot of guys would jump out and a bunch of kids and old farts would jump in.

I think about 20% of the general tags are set aside for kids, and a pile of the turkey tags.

Muley73, Glad you liked it. Got to do some more of the California Quail that we are seeing now. Those catus wrens are an interesting little bird also. Let's face it I will never see the bonus max again on any worthwile hunt. I've got to put in - who knows - just might be as lucky as your Dad and draw!

Anyway about the management hunt. I have asked the DWR on their website about the inclusion of a percentage set aside for the youth and seniors again this year. Thought it might have been in their Guide Book for 2011, but couldn't find it.

From the 2010 guidebook, and I'm sure they are the same again this year...

Management buck deer permits are available
through the Division?s big game drawing. Thirty
percent of the management buck deer permits
are available to hunters who'll be 18 years of age
or younger on Aug. 21, 2010. Thirty percent are
available to hunters who'll be 65 years of age or
older on Aug. 21, 2010. The remaining 40 percent
are available to hunters of all ages.

That could really lower the draw odds for the folks in the middle group--especially on units without large numbers of tags. In that case when the state lists the drawing odds for specific hunts, a breakdown by age should be included.
