Where have the deer gone that used to be on the public land in Wyoming.I have been told by the biologists and gamewardens that Region B,C and D are very low in deer and quallity of bucks.Even had one gamewarden tell me to not spend the money for the tag,it's not worth it .

Reminds me of Rem308, He used to ask a lot of weird questions just like this one.

Where have the deer gone?

Gee, maybe they went on vacation to Florida! :)

At least wyoming admits they have a problem, ask biologists in Utah and they will tell you its better than it has been in years......

Admitting the problem is the first step in getting to a solution.

Thats one idea,maybe ?

I was thinking over hunted? maybe preditors are more abundent, maybe even winter kill, but never thought of them going to Florida.

Thanks for being a good sport whiterock or Rem, whatever!!

I'm seeing a lot of big muley bucks being killed in Texas that i don't ever remember seeing before. I think them deer moved to Texas!!

Actually, my pard and gal friend had a great hunt in D last year. They didn't kill monster bucks but they got their 4 pointers after picking thru a few lesser bucks. Not hundreds of deer either, maybe like the old days, but they saw enough everyday to keep interested. They also filled out on their antelope. Was her first outa state hunt and she's raring to go again.

LAST EDITED ON Feb-01-11 AT 09:09AM (MST)[p]The area in D south of Encampment is a nice looking area.
I hunted in D but it was 5 years ago up arround Chalk Mountain.Took a nice buck on the first day of season.

D had a bad winter kill two winters ago. So its trying to bounce back. The area I lion hunt does not have that many mature bucks like it used to when I first came to the state. Mule deer do not recover from winter kill, predators etc... near as fast as whitetails do. So there ya go. Can't speak for the other areas.

Cause all of the biologist and wardens like to hunt public land and they are tired of the competition.

Oh, and Western Wyoming suck too!
