Congrats to Dustin! I'd have been feeling pretty crappy on the last day not seeing too many shootable bucks. To go a whole day only seeing one buck is pretty bad. This is a premium unit? Hmmmmmmm!! Again, congrats to Dustin. Glad you got the tag filled. Nice buck....

I got put in time out for a bad signature! Sorry Founder...

Congrat's Dustin on a fine buck....

That is what hunt'n is supposed to be about...A great experience with family and friends that will always be remembered forever...:)

What a great Hunt!! Dustin is my son and as all of you know a hunt like this takes alot of time and alot of help from good people. I would like to thank all the hunters that helped make this hunt with my son possible. First my brother, my nephews, MonsterMuleys, Huntinfanatic, Huntinguy who sacrificed one of his secret spots on the Paunsaugunt, Billie Robb from Redcreek Outfitters who was guiding a hunt in Kansas and still had time to call and give us some advise, Doyle Moss for all his help. Travis Roundy from Roundy Taxidermy. Travis in my opinion is an outstanding individual who was willing to help out in any way he could.
Thanks again Travis for making this a successful hunt.

I've been in the military going on 29 years and been all over this world. Ive seen sites most will never see good and bad.
Being on this hunt with my family, watching my son experience the thrill of the hunt, the buck fever, the agony of the one that got away, the final minute of the harvest, one week before deploying again is a memory I will always charis. Take your kids hunting, camping, fishing, enjoy your family, life is short, make the memories that last a life time. You will never regret it.

Good hunting

Are you really Serious Beavis?!?! Who pissed in your breakfast? This is a 15 year old kid hunting with his Dad, Uncle and 2 cousins. I saw no where in that story that said he had 25 guys walking him to a buck. It sounded like a GREAT family hunt to me and something that kid will remember for a long time. GOOD FOR THEM!
I get so F&(*$ tired of you Holier than thou dip shits on this site that think unless it is ONE GUY with a Bowie knife killing an animal with his hands wearing animal hides and no shoes that it is "possee" hunting. Grow the hell up and let this family enjoy their experience.
It is jack asses like you why I will NOT post any more of my hunting stories on this site.

Thank you and great response FishLakeElkHunter. It takes a real low life to try to degrade a first time hunt with family for a 15 year old. This hunt was a management hunt. The idea was to take a quality Management buck. In no way were we looking for the largest animal on the mountain. In previous years over 80% of the bucks taken on this hunt were on a small portion of the unit. With the hot weather this year, "The World Renouned Migration" of the Paunsagant had not really happened. The rut was in the very early stages. The Paunsagant is a huge unit. The deer were spread out from the top of the Pink Cliffs to the Arizona border. Trying to locate the deer, let alone the bucks, was not an easy task. We worked our tails off on this hunt. This was not an easy hunt by any means. For someone to portray that we hand fed this buck to Dustin obviously has no clue!!! Dustin's Dad "BigElk5x5" put in countless hours of research doing his best to make Dustin's first hunt "a hunt of a lifetime!!" Again, Congrats cous. You did awesome!!!

Great buck, story and smiles!

One thing for sure though, its sad when your 15 and its your first hunt. Times have changed for sure.

This definitely wasn?t his first hunt with the family; it was his first time being the hunter.
We have always made the outdoors a family affair.

If bowhunting was easy rifle hunters would do it...

LAST EDITED ON Feb-03-11 AT 10:19AM (MST)[p]as i tried to express i ment no offence. however his father had posted above a big laundry list of people helping him. true ??? there is a post of the late idaho hunt. examine it closely. this is a trophy hunt imho.. didn't mean to ruffle feathers or discount the young mans buck. i am happy for him. it just riles me that in order to be a " success " you have to enlist doyle moss and a dozen others to kill a deer thats all.....

Maybe if you spent a little less time examining each post closely and a little more time hunting you wouldn't have to be so jealous of this little feller and his family. Just saying...

It is obviously apparent that Beavis does not quite understand the objective of this post or the hunt itself. Maybe this will clear it up for him.. The MANAGEMENT hunt is designed to not only thin out bucks with non-trophy genetics, but also a tool of allowing more tags for the Pauns.. 30% of these tags are set aside for kids 18yrs old and younger. another 30% set aside for elderly over 65%. When a person draws this tag, they must pass a test provided by the DWR on how to tell the difference between a management deer and a young buck. You must pass this test before you are issued the tag. Also provided is a list of people who have volunteered to help in any way they can. This list is comprised of mainly outfitters and guides. None on this list are looking for a guide fee!!!! I know its hard for all you Doyle haters to believe, but he was on this list and was very helpful with FREE advise and direction.. As were all the others mentioned in the post above. Many mentioned above are just average MMer's that are willing to help fellow hunters!! Isn't that what this site is supposed to be about. Especially when 60% of the hunters with the management tag are either youth or elderly.. I repeat. THIS WAS NOT A TROPHY HUNT. This hunt is about taking an inferior deer off the mountain so the premium bucks can pass on their genetics. For us, it was about a young boy with his first ever deer tag and the experience that will probably have him putting in for the other 30% of tags given when he is 65 yrs old!! Nuf Said!!!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-03-11 AT 03:03PM (MST)[p]no harm, no foul. We are all on the same team. Thats something that is forgotten way too often on this site.

Beavis...I commend you for standing up and admitting when you are wrong. Too many times people jump on GOOD guys like it seems that these folks are...and run them off from posting great hunting stories like this one. I also apologize for getting pretty harsh with you.

We need to remember that "to each his own" on how and when and why they do their hunting!!! If you do not like the way someone did it...keep your mouth shut...let them do their thing!

I know this is a public forum and being able to voice opinions is important but this place gets a bit out of control on who is bashed and why.

Just enjoy the stories...if it is not your cup of tea...fine...you dont have to hunt with them.

Thanks for sharing a cool story guys!
