LAST EDITED ON Feb-15-11 AT 11:43AM (MST)[p]Well, this year I'm going to burn my deer points as a nonresident and was hoping for a little input. I have 9 pts and am looking for a real quality animal in the 180"+ range. I've considered the air force academy but am not real sure about the quality and am open to any type of hunt that will give me the best chance at a big buck - 14000' backpack muzzleloader; plains archery; etc. I like to hunt alone and would hate to burn these points on a marginal area and I would hope to not have to pay an outfitter for a fully guided hunt...thanks for any advice. Sorry, this is for Colorado.

The draw odds section of this website is excellent and will narrow your choices down to units you can draw with 9 points. I would suggest you narrow down to a few units and go to the CDOW and pull statistics, maps etc and when you have narrowed your choices down a bit and to specific units you may have better luck getting some unit specific advice. 9 points is a nice place to be at and will get you into a unit with good potential.

wait a week or two and the HF boys will tell you what to do with those 9 points.

Yeah once the HF clowns crawl out of there Meth shack winnabaggo just do what of ever they say and send them a another 100$... No in all honestesty best of luck with your 9 pts that many years deserves a great buck imo!!

Look on the eastern side of the state there are some good units down around Lamar

we have some hunts here in NW Colorado that are in your points range, if your interested in more info please let me know,
thanks,

If it was me I would look at a good unit's 4th season. a 3-4 point 3rd season unit equates to 7-9 PPs for 4th season. That's what I'd do.
