How is the Colorado deer herd fairing this winter? I had read earlier in the winter there was some concern about the snow depth. Hadn't seen any thing lately.

I've been wondering the same thing. My son and I have a muley hunt planned in the Craig area , second season. Any snow depth info would be appreciated.

I know folks will say that there is no snow but here in central colorado and the gunnison basin there is a ton of snow. Snowtell sites are saying over 130% of average and it looks like the gunnision basin got another 2 feet yesterday on top of what is there.

Not the best news but the snowpack in the gunnison basin is just about what it was or over the 08 winter. It looks like it is going to be a hard winter on the deer and elk at least around here.

I talked to a gentleman from the Craig, CO Chamber of Commerce this week and inquired on snow levels in that area. He said he was out scouting last weekend north of Craig and the snow wasn't bad and even a few bare spots starting to show on the south facing slopes.
