Well i know this is not one of the toads that gets posted on here regularly, but he was one of the better bucks I had a shot at last year during my archery hunt. Closest I could get was 80 yards, he switched places with some smaller bucks in the bachelor group he was in. I think the crab claws really kill his score, but what say the MM experts?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-01-11 AT 11:27AM (MST)[p]About a 130-135 buck, still a great buck with a bow.

I'd say 145, don't think he would have made any higher. Pictures are always tough though.

I agree with the others.

He may gross very close to the 145 minimum but he will fall short.

Probably not quite 140.

I aint no expert, but I doubt he will make 130. He is very young though, and those fronts will be more decent forks this year im sure.

Those deer are both lacking the most important thing when it comes to score...TINE LENGTH. Either one would look fine on the ground with a bow accross his chest, but neither one would score very well.

138 for the top.

152 for the other.

This buck was right around 152 if I remember right. Crabby fronts will kill your score the fastest.

Darn that must be why I haven't won any of the score contest's.
I'll check you guy's scores before I enter mine in the next contest, ya all really seem to know your stuff.

I have hunted the same property for 5 years now, and while it can produce 180 inch bucks, this last year was the toughest by far. We hunt the breaks going down to a river in central south dakota, the farmers usually have the crops mostly cut by the time bow season starts which pushes the deer out of the fields and into the breaks where they are huntable. This year lots of rain kept them from cutting fields and there was about 3 times as much standing milo, sunflowers and corn as in previous years. When the crops are up the deer camp out in them and its real hard to put eyeballs or a scope on them. We saw a fifth of the deer we usually see last fall.

This was the biggest deer we saw, but no one killed a mulie off that property this year, will be interesting to get back this fall and see if we can find him what kind of growth he can put on in a year.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-11 AT 09:21AM (MST)[p] Hey Stubaby- That is a great lookin buck..!!! When you said 152" I was like, "No way, it's gotta be a 160" deer!" So I started addin things up. Imma take a guess at his exact score:

Right side:...Main 20 0/8"........Left Side: Main 20 0/8"
..............G1 2 4/8"....................G1 3 0/8"
..............G2 14 4/8"....................G2 14 0/8"
..............G3 9 2/8"....................G3 9 0/8"
..............G4 10 2/8"....................G4 9 0/8"
..............Mass 12 4/8"....................Mass 12 4/8"

...........Total: 69 0/8"................Total: 67 4/8"

...........Total Inches: 136 4/8"
..........Spread Credit: 20 0/8"
............Gross Score: 156 4/8"
..............Net Score: 154 0/8"

Anyway... That was fun... So I believe you that it's in that low-mid 150" range, but he is a much better lookin buck than his score...!!! Thanks for sharin....

As far as the original buck- I'd say about 135"... He' should be a much better buck this year, I'd say he could put on 15" and be a 150" buck... Let's hope he's less crabby.

The second, heavier buck looks to be about a 160" buck. He's a shooter for me because of nice, heavy rack with extras- his tine length hurts his score though. Books Cliffs Rifle- He's a dead deer opening morning for me though...
