I hunted this unit third season last year. Honestly one of the worse hunts i have been on in Colorado. All the deer seemed to be on the private land. And there was lots of private. I ended up seeing smaller bucks nothing big. Even on the private. But there wasnt much snow last year may have affected the deer numbers.

Certainly a has been unit. I live in the new castle/silt area. And the deer are there.. just in not large numbers. Majority of the bucks I've seen on public land have been around the coulter mesa and horse mountain area. Personally I wouldn't waste my time there unless you have private land access.
