Spring is in the air and I am excited to see some of those velvet mule deer here in a few months. I have always loved velvet deer and love the way they look mounted!. Some folks don't care for the velvet skinny necked mounts and prefer those long grey hair bucks. I did this contest in for those anxious to get out and see some velvet.

This contest may end up dropping you big time or gaining you some points to get back in it. For this contest we will score three different mule deer. You will combine all three scores to come up with your total. The total score is the only score that will matter!!!!!! However I want to have everyone post three scores and then their total. Some people may be way off and have a little luck and come close on their total. Let's see where you end up. Oh, and the buck on the right is a straight 3. There may be some velvet that looks like points but it is not.

I have posted as many angles as I could to help you. Good luck and this weeks rules.

1. Total score is the only one that counts towards the overall contest

3. Closest scores or score will win if no correct scores are guessed.
4. Winner will receive a hunting dvd

Who cares about scoring deer of this caliber?? The middle one is pretty nice and probably warrants a score. I'd score the 3 points by calling them "nice three points" I guess I can score them but would I ever do it in the field? No.

Gznokes. You make some good points. Not alot of people score those animals so I figured it would good for people to learn how to score a 3-point. like you said " I would never score a 3 point, I would say nice that's a nice 3 point". Exactly my point for putting it on the contest. Nobody really scores a 3 point so why not try and learn and see where you end up. If you knew already I'm sorry! Just figured since it is a scoring contest we should learn how to evaluate all types of deer and other animals. JMO so take it the same way I took yours. Just glancing at your score it looks like you may need the practice so I am glad you played even though you didn't have to since you don't score these type of animals. I am sorry I couldn't accomadate to your needs. Maybe the next contest will be to your liking. At what point is a 3 point worth scoring? 160, 180? Let me know so I can accomadate you on the next contest. Until then keep practicing on your skills of scoring. That is why you participated isn't it? I also said in one of my last contests you don't have to play if you don't want to. So Gznokes play the ones that appeal to you and if you don't want to score these little bucks then feel free to pass. In all honestly I am glad you entered and played. As far as complaining, I get enough from my wife. LOL So GZnokes you did win complainer of the week award. LOL Pm me and I will send you a video. No serious !!!

This is a tough one. At first I thought some of these folks were smoking crack on their scores, but I tried to do my best to score them out and was suprised with the numbers. Of course the last time I did that I came up with my worst guess of the entire year! ;-)

Initial guess comes in at L = 142; M = 172; R = 147 for a total of 461, but that just seems to big.

I think I'll knock a couple inches off each of them to end up with L = 140; M = 170; R = 145 for a total of 455.

I'll just randomly add 7/8 on there just to get it off a straight score and put down 455 7/8" as my final guess.
