Preference Point Question

I have the warrant vouchers for all of my PP in Colorado. Starting in 1997 for elk I have applied for a hunt or PP every year except 2009. My last warrant voucher is dated 5/21/10 description says Elk PP-13. My PP count on the website is 14 after this years draw. On deer every year except 2009 since 1998 my last warrant voucher is date 06/04/10 description is deer PP-12. The website shows 12 points after this years draw. I count 13 and 12 sheets each telling me I received a point after each draw. I think they have messed up on my deer points. I have counted and recount and it seems like I should have went into this years draw with 12 deer points. I applied for 2nd season GMU 2. There should only be one point difference between deer and elk. If they missed a point will they make it good if I am the max. point holder for that draw? I am wrong on my point count?

I have no idea what they will do, but if you have the sheets and everything is as you said, then they owe you 1 PP for deer. Contact them with the information and see what you need to do to get the point restored. IMO they will probably not do anything to help you as far as a tag this year even if it was their screwup. I was on the phone with them yesterday afternoon. The guy kept telling me that the count was correct but couldn't explain the difference in the deer and elk points. It was close to 5:00 their time so I am sure he was wanting to get out of there on Friday before a holiday. I haven't applied anywhere since 2007 due to health and family issues. I wasn't planning on it this year until a guy got me to thinking about it. Now I am wanting to go and no tag.

It's usualy best not to contact an agency on a Monday morning or a Friday afternoon, especially the latter when it's the start of a holiday weekend! It's not going to help you this year, but you need to keep at them and they will probably end up having you send in copies of your paperwork showing you can prove that you're right. I'd keep at them until they get it right because that 1 PP could make a big difference in hunting or not when you do apply for a tag in a lot of the better units. Good luck!
