So I currently have a 2011 hunting licence now but plan on hunting 1st week of January 2012:

1)can I hunt off my 2011 licence with 2012 deer tag or does my 2011 hunting licence expire on 12/31?

2)if not and since I'll be hunting on 1/1/12 when/how do I get my 2012 licence (online ahead of time, etc)?

3)what is the best way to buy my 2012 deer permit (OTC)?

4)I'll be putting in for a deer bonus point only for 2011, even with the OTC perimit in 2012 can I get a bonus point for 2012?

Thx
Bill

You will need to purchase a 2012 license which can be done at www.azgfd.com. I believe the 2012 license will be available in November, but for sure in December. You can buy your deer tag at most license vendors like Cabela's or Sportsmans Warehouse. I would make a list and call ahead to be sure that particular vendor has them in stock. It's a popular item that time of year. You can also download a paper order form and mail in a license and OTC tag order if going to a license vendor doesn't work in your plans. You can do the mail order pretty much any time since you fill in the year you want the license and tag on the form. You can apply for bonus point only or even a draw tag in 2012, but you can only harvest one deer per calendar year. If you harvest a deer in the OTC hunt, just apply for a bonus point only, hunt code 1000, otherwise pick a couple of tags you would like and just apply. It's really pretty easy to do once you get familiar with the process. Remember, not all units are included in the OTC hunt so check the regulations before making the trip plan.

Sage pretty much nailed it, but I believe licenses will be available online in October when the spring draw is due. If I were you I would apply for an archery javelina tag (you'll have to buy your 2012 license to do that), then you can combo up on deer and javi's (the only reason javi's are on this earth is for bowhunters). Pick up your OTC deer license when you get in town and you are good to go.

This is GREAT! Can't wait to chase some mulies and take the hunter ed class. I might pick up the javi tag, they taste any good?

the best way to cook a pig is wrap it in burlap, pit it all day, take it out, unwrap the burlap, throw the javi away and eat the burlap

Codylee that is pure BS.

The best way to prepare a javelina is to make a marinade of two parts cognac and one part creme de menthe. Chill the marinade for four hours, throw away the javelina and drink the marinade. Much better flavor than the burlap and you don't have to dig a pit.
