on an earlier post had some pics of a 230+ buck. Has anyone heard a guess as to what the largest buck on the Island will go?

Well- I think $260,000 is a bit steep... I don't think $100,000 is out of the question for the first year though...

There was a 250+ deer out there a few years ago, but nobody knows if he's alive.

W.D. will kill the best deer on the island, and he will exceed 230. Thats all anybody except Doyle is gonna know until it happens.

yes, I know of at least one that we have on video, 11x13 that should go 230+. Never seen him in the daylight though, twice on the road in my headlights. If you haven't ever been out go, it is really cool seing these deer, and it will make you sick how tame they are and still the hunt is during the rut.

hossblur, I'm pretty sure this is the buck you saw, but he is a 8x11, with no scorable eye guard on his right. It wasn't broken, it just never grew. Even so, he went over 230. He looks like he may have short backs on both sides this year, unless he really shoots up. That might even save his life.

Did the tag already sell for $260,000...??? I must have missed that...

I was thinking it went for 265,000. W.D. is the hunter. Hopefully he get about a 1000.00 bucks a inch outa of his buck he finds ?

LAST EDITED ON Jun-16-11 AT 05:01PM (MST)[p]If you do a search here you can find out all about it. Wd Martin is the hunter. He bought a henrys tag 2010 or 09 ? There are pictures here and on mossback web site I believe of him and his henrys buck he killed.
He and his dad bid on the tag at the expo and "WON" it for 265,000 dollars.
Hopefully he kills a 265" buck.

Well, a 265, even a 235" non-typical would be great but how about the Typicals out there. Are there any clean Typ's that might net 210? 200?

I think a great clean Typical that nets over 200" is just as neat or better than a "trashy", excuse the term, 235. Thanks!

Joey

Sage, every once in a while you'll see a 200" typical, but usually they get big and then trash out. I've only seen 1 buck that approached 200" and stayed clean.

I know the video's poor- sorry no tripod that day... This is a big typical that used to come off the island in the summer, finally filmed him last year...

if they are so tame how come you never seen them in the daylight?

YELUM, Thanks, Seems it's that way a lot. I guess that's why i place so much desirability in huge clean typical's.

BrowningR, Thanks! That is certainly a very, very nice Typical. If or not, he'd go close to 200" doesn't matter a bit to me, from what i could see, he'd be very nice on my wall! :)

Sage, in 9 years of watching the bucks there, this is the largest framed buck I've ever seen out there. All ruined by 3 small cheaters. lol
