I got lucky and drew a unit 44 riflle MD tag. I have plenty of time to scout but would like to talk to a few people that have hunted it for some starting points. Thanks for your help.

I hunted it in 05 and took a 182" 5x5. I hunted north of fairfield. Lots of bucks, but I killed the best one I saw. alot of 20"-22" bucks but there is a few nice ones.

I was fortunate enough to hunt unit 44 last year and saw atleast 5 bucks over 180", with one or two pushing closer to 190"+. Saw around 100 head of elk too, with atleast 5 bulls pushing 320"+, luckily this year I drew my bull tag! 8^) you could say I'm on cloud 9! Sadly I ended up with a 160" 4 point out of there last year! I like to call him my mistake buck, that will not happen again if I ever draw that tag again lol! But if you want some more info pm me... IMO, that is one of the best tags in the state, go about it right and you could come home with a real nice buck!

I don't have much info about your unit but my 16 year old boy drew hunt #1076 anybody give me advise where to take him. It is unit #46,47,54,55,57,and56.

Of all those units, 54 is the one that I've heard most about, but I have not hunted any. You might want to start a new thread for that question though.

Sounds like the unit 44 hunt is a good one. If I remember correctly it depends a lot on the migration and when the snow falls as far as where to go.
