Hey folks, I am a first timer on Monster Muleys, I have a Colorado Unit 2 Muley tag for this fall and like most, have never hunted there. Curious what I can expect as far as size of bucks, I am from WI and a scouting trip or two with a wife and three little children at home will be tuff. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, booner76

Set your standard and stick too. Plenty of really nice bucks in that unit hold out of that once in a life time buck. Second or third season? If ya can't make a trip out earlier plan on a few days of serious scouting prior to the opener.

Thats all walker's property predominately and the trespass fee has shot up considerably..

I remember when access was a bargain there, not sure what its up to the last couple years. It is very possible to do the long round about walk in and there is hunting on either side of Little Joe on public land. Still its a grunter of a walk and you need to know the boundaries.

Just wondering how many points it took to draw. I went in with 12 and didn't draw.

booner76,

I have extensive knowledge and experience in unit 2 having hunted it in 2002 and 2003 late season on LO tags. Also used to live not far from there so I had the opportunity to scout it those years. Also picked the locals and other hunters' brains quite a bit.....including the DWM......who was very forthcoming with info. I also hunted there in the 1980's when it had thousands and thousands of deer. Do a search in this forum as I said some informing things here a while back about unit 2 including mentioning Raftopolous. BUCKSPY wouldn't accept those things.....but he ain't always right.

Same questions as always for someone seeking info on this forum.

1) What size of deer are you after?

2) What experience do you have in hunting sagebrush/PJ muleys?

3) Do you have experience and patience in hunting VERY low deer density areas?

4) Do you have the entire season to hunt?

5) Why should I help you when you haven't contributed anything here at all to help me?

Seriously, partner, answer these questions openly here (not in a PM) with some honesty and effort and I'll line you out........right here.

Would post some pics but my scanner is toast.

1. 200" seriously
2. A little.
3. Yes, not a pud.
4. Yes
5. Read my responses on "Bam 2 for 3 area 102."
I meant it.
I would appreciate any help you are willing to give......But, I dont beg, never needed too.

JDECK- I had a buddy apply this year with 19 points and didnt draw? what do you suppose is up with that?
I purchased a LO tag.

Did he put in for the 3rd rifle season as a group with another nonresident? They only give out one NR tag and putting in as a group would have eliminated both of them from drawing.

The bad thing for me is I checked the wrong thing and didn't get a PP this year. Good Luck on your hunt.
