I drew the Early rifle tag for 74 this season... Took 12 points... You boy's ever hunt there? Silverton area... La Platas... Where do the monsters hang out? I will hike anywhere to make this hunt happen... I figure it's as close to once in a lifetime tag as I can get while I'm still young enough to hike...

You mean like these guys. They hang out where you find them I suggest a lot of scouting. Bucks you find between now and september should be in the same drainages.

That first one is a giant... Great looking bucks... Are they from hunts you were on? Is one of them yours? Great looking deer!

>They love to hang out in
>and around the willows at
>timberline.

I figured on hunting above 12,000 ft... I know there's monsters there, that's why I spent all the points! Just figured that someone on here may have been into that country could help if they've been in my shoes before, I won't likely be hunting there again for at least a decade...

If you can assist I appreciate it... If anyone needs help in Idaho, Utah or Wyoming, let me know!

What drainages are you considering? What trailheads are you looking at for access? Are you going to scout? I don't think anybody is going to give up drainages on an open forum, but I could be wrong. Both of those bucks I posted took a lot of work and the internet is not how they were found or killed.

I will be archery hunting there during the opening week. If you pm me we can share some ideas.
