One deer here and one there

i havent seen many groups either, im guessing gotta be all this good feed just has everything spread out and not concentrated in little areas. most the bucks i have seen have been loaners as well.

Until last weekend I hadn't seen a single live fawn all year and was beginning worry...then I saw a bunch of em all at once...I doubt any are over 3 weeks old yet...they're tiny as hell right now.

Bachelor herds have been and are forming still...loner bucks wandering off for a few days on their own but the main group always has a few together...dude they're just being deer quit stressin!! :)

I was up on the North Cache last wknd filming an info/access/lay of the land DVD for a buddy that drew a non-ressy bow bull tag and I saw one deer--period!

From High Creek all the way around to Franklin Basin...1 deer...

I did not make it up on the Wellsville maybe in early August I will go film up there for him.

Went for a ride up in Northern Utah last night and saw a ton of deer with about 6 of them being younger bucks.

I also haven't seen any fawns until last night and they were very small. I saw one doe with 2 fawns.

Has me thinking maybe the fawn recruitment this year has been pretty tough.

I hope I am wrong!

In three days of lookin around Bear lake and Logan Canyon, I saw a total of 34 deer (23 of them at 1am in the headlights) Only two fawns, across the street from the Bear Lake Pizza place, one was a little nubby buck, had to have 3" of bone...

Same thing a few here and there. Great feed the browse looks amazing this year!!! Seen a few small bucks here an there and a few weeks back I saw 8 does and not a fawn one on them I hope the little guys were hiding out in the trees while their mothers fed into the meadow I saw them in. That is I hope they were.

I was up Logan canyon a week ago and spotted several does with fawns, all still very small with spots. Went out west this weekend, clear creek, only one fawn, lots of single does and small bucks. They are more spread out but they are looking healthy. Seen a couple good bucks hanging out with some bulls, is that common?

Not sure where you guys are looking but I have spotted some mighty fine bucks up here on the north end lately.....

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

Another thing to think about, is a lot of new springs have popped up this year or at least springs and seeps that have dryed up by now are still running. This will keep the deer spread out and possibly hold them in new areas this year or at least until fall. I took some supplies up to our backcountry camp yesterday and where I was seeing groups of buck last year, I only saw two does and one small buck yesterday. Time to start checking out a few other canyons and draws in the area, I'm sure there within a mile or two.

Went on first scouting trip in southern Utah on Saturday. Tons of water, tons of fawns (like mentioned before, very small fawns) and some great bachelor groups. On group with 16 bucks, five of them were 25+ inches. Sure got mt blood pumping for the hunts. Also I couldn't believe how late they stayed out feeding. Especially since it was a full moon.

Saw a nice group of bucks up in Diamond Mnt. area, all the does and fawns I saw seemed to be a little lower, but every doe seemed to have a fawn nearby.

The past two weekends I have been out looking for a camp site to take my scouts (Boy Scouts) for a 3 day 2 night camp out. Cannot say as I was looking for deer the first trip out I seen more deer then I have for a long time. The second trip out was in mid day and I still seen over a dozen deer. Wishing now I would have stopped a glassed a couple of them to see if they were sporting any growth.
