How tall is this buck?

They would both go 150 easy. The first buck I am guessing is about 24", but the second one is like 26" high, both awesome bucks.

I'm thinking more like 170" with the length of the tines. Even though that last one is narrow, his height is going to up the score pretty good I would think. I hope some of the pros get on here and comment because I'm just making a guess and maybe I'm way off. That's why I like to get in on some of these scores early to see if I'm in the ballpark because when there are already a bunch of posts I read them first even though I shouldn't, LOL!

Yeah, both gonna be real nice bucks. I don't recall ever seeing a taller buck in the wild than that second buck.

Some measure "how tall" by putting a tape on the skull and measuring straight up to a point center between the highest points. Others. measure height by taping out and along the beam, around up to the tip of a highest point. I usually measure height straight up myself, anything above 22" is pretty good. That second buck looks to be way better than that, Thanks for posting!!

Ridgetops,

Those wouldn't by chance be book cliffs bucks would they? I've seen a ton of bucks just like that out in the bookies. There is definitely a tall/narrown gene pool out there.

I posted pictures of a 3 point on the hoof and in velvet last fall that I named, Tri-High, for obvious reasons. He went solo just before the hunt and I had a heck of a time relocating him. He really needed a couple more years, but I knew if I didn't shoot him someone else would. Anyway, he ended up measuring 26" by following the curve of the rack. I guessed him to have a 6 and a 1/2 inch spread. I was off a little. It was 6 and 3/8 inches. Your buck looks close to the same height.

Thats a great looking deer. I've never measured my bucks hieght, but he's up there.

Hey Ridge, I sent you an email, did you get it?

I was going make a comment about the shaky video because it was handheld and I usually try and use a mono-pod. Thanks for the comments. The bucks are not on the Books, keep going West.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-27-11 AT 05:36AM (MST)[p]good looking deer. has potential ..... msybe next year. thanks for the post

I have had a few people tell me they saw a buck at least 30" high when describing it. I find that hard to believe, I think a person has a better chance at seeing a 40" wide buck than a 30" high one. I would like to see a picture of a 30" high buck. I believe the buck I filmed the other day is about 26-27" high. (straight up from between its bases).

There's always next year
