Climbing down a cliff after a morning of glassing and my buddy almost stepped right on this fat sucker.

Luckily he was still warming up and didnt get too aggressive. Is it just me or are there a ton of snakes on the front?

"You skin grizz?"

For GAWDS Sakes Guys,We Got Kids on this Site,Some of them are 65 years Old!:D

I don't care if they're big or small!
If they throw lead I like em all!
:p

There does seem to be a bunch of them out this year . I have even see a few that are rattlers for sure , but they didn't have any rattles on them .

Oh he had a rattle. He was the fattest snake Ive ever seen. Maybe thats where all the big bucks gone?:)

LAST EDITED ON Aug-20-11 AT 11:24AM (MST)[p]Man your taking scouting to the extremes. I try to stay away from the areas that require climbing gear, but you have to do what you have to do. That is also why I wear snake protective clothing. Check out these [a href="http://snakeproofgear.com/snake-gaiters"]snake gaiters[/a].

Not saying you're wrong, just saying I'm skeptical, I'd have to see some pics before I could believe this.

ummmmm ive almost stepped on that exact rattler. I cant believe that water is cooking still. was up there about a month back and it was roaring. good luck!

Trust me--Ive never had to climb out of that canyon but the river was roarin! Washed the trail out!

I took the video last month.

You can definately find rattle snakes with out the rattles. They are basically just shed skin, they come off easy. I almost stepped on a 3 1/2 footer a couple weeks ago that only had two. and last week while checking cameras I grabbed one by the tail to move him and his rattle came right off

Make's you think a little. Couple years ago, buddy walk right over one, didn't even know it. I'm following behind and step right next to him, he was pissed! Didn't strike but he was not happy. We were a good 6 miles from any road, made us wonder what the heck we'd of done if one of us had gotten bit. I still dont know. Do you hike out bit, get your blood pumping and circulate the venom. Or do you leave the guy alone solo, while your bud runs out for help, best case two hours away?

never thought about trying to get pictures ,I'm usually trying to get away from those creepy things , but there is a area by the Univeristy of Utah where I seen them on more than occassion .

I'll try and kill one next time I see one .

I second this question. I have wondered the same thing myself.

my buddy shot a deer this year that had been bitten by a rattler.. The meat was all bad and the deer had a swollen foot.

I told my wife I'm going to go rattlesnake hunting and I think she's considering finding a backup husband just incase. She already hates me hunting solo. Be careful out there!
