I was hoping for a little help for an early season rifle tag in Unit 131-134. I had a friend that knows the unit that offered to help me before I put in for the unit but he isn't interested in offering any help like I thought he would.. I was hoping for some help in some good areas to start, I am not afraid to hike or hunt hard all day long. I have good glass and willing to work but I would really appreciate some information on areas that I could begin looking.
Thanks

A fews years back, We were having dinner in eureka Nevada on the way home from Colo.THis guy walks up to us and asks if we want to see a picture of a big buck
ya, !!!
Well it was of a live deer he had took a few days before. It was huge! 36-40" wide...
He was working for a drilling/mining co.
Said it was taken on
Mt. hamilton...
What a buck it was. Hunting season ended the day he took the pic in the first week of Nov.
Might be here-say, but the pic and deer were real/unreal ...
It was huge...
Good luck scouting and on your hunt.
Never been in 131
But 141-144 in the diamonds
and 161-164 i have hunted...
Sorry ,not much help...

this unit is awesome for big buck potential. but... my family had four early rifle tags last year and it was freaking miserable! it was like hunting a general utah deer hunt! people everywhere! once we found a couple of good out of the way places to hunt one of my brothers put down a 26" 4 point. which was decent. we have killed lots bigger in the area. so my advice is look over the ENTIRE area not just the popular spots. pretty much get a map and find good water sources then decide which is most accessible and stay the heck away from them. find areas with water that arent easily accessible and hunt it.

Hezzy is right on with his advice. Google Earth is your best friend. Go a week early, scout hard and hunt the entire season. Its worth it.
