Lost Backpack

My buddy and I are out by a ranch near Denio, NV archery hunting my PIW tag. We make a long hike from the ranch up the hills and back. As we get back near the ranch I set my pack along the fence line and we go to get the car about a mile away. Upon return the pack is gone. Ask the rancher if one of the ranch hands might have grabbed it as it looked forgotten. Now, I know I should have never left it, but I figured it was 90+ degrees and we could be back within 20 minutes. We had not seen another hunter all day. Well, now I have lost a Zeiss spotting scope, brand new pack, a PIW deer tag(with my name and address on it), an elk tag and all sorts of other goodies. If anyone happens to hear about someone finding this pack I can describe all the contents in it and it has my tags in it so it should be easy to prove I am the rightful owner.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-12-11 AT 12:43PM (MST)[p]that about makes you want to cry. hope you get it back.

is there a local paper if some classfied ads and put someting in lost and found part of it.

Hey Tony, I sure hope you are able to eventually get things returned. What a terrible time to have to deal with such a mess. I'm just glad you have lots of time to keep searching for a buck worthy of filling your PIW tag! Did you get the Havalon I sent you? I am dead serious about you not sending any money. You have plenty of other BIG things to worry about trying to replace right now and that piddly little knife doesn't need to be one of them...

Hopefully someone will come clean and get your pack back to you. If not I hope they cut themselves when they go to use your old knife... :)

Best of luck to you with your hunts!

Sorry there are so many thieves around. I used to think I would like to retire to possibly Northern Utah which I've never hunted. I have hunted Wyoming and Colorado a lot and Nevada twice and never had a thing stolen. Maybe I have been lucky or maybe you guys just hunt where people steal each others deer and equipment. I hope you get it back I would be sick to lose that much stuff.

I don't know if I'd consider the backpack "stolen". If I ran across it, I'd take it too (making sure, firstly, that no one was in the area) but then contacting the local residents or the DWR/USFS. Give NDOW a call see if anyone has reported it.

Sorry that you've lost it, and I hope someone tries to do all they can to find you.

Good Luck.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-12-11 AT 02:31PM (MST)[p]got to be damned carefull these days to many people getting buy doing nothing and not fearing the conciquences. case in point we had a big camp set-up last fall two sheepherder tents, cook tent a couple pop-ups ect. my buddy wasn't feeling good and stayed in camp that morning. he woke up hearing some clamering outside the tent. he found some jerk off stealing steaks out of the cooler and making off with a camp stove. he grabbed his pistol but the guy hauled azz on this yz 250. talked to some guys a couple days later and they had some stuff stolen from there camp. sorry for your loss.

Shawn, thanks for the knife. Got it two days later and hope to use it soon. I already reported to all newspapapers, Craigslist, law enforcement etc. No replies yet. Just hoping to put it out here in hopes of reaching more people that may have heard anything.

I feel for you. Hope it is returned in a timely manner!!! That really sucks, just as the hunts are getting started.
