I was looking to do some hunting up east of Smoot and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of pressure there is up in those hills. Not looking for anyones honey holes or anything like that. Just want to know what kind of pressure to expect. Thanks a lot for any info.

do a search on G and H and you'll find a plenty of info. If there are few hunters there, no one is going to blast that over the www, epsecially on MM!

Hunted that 10 years ago probably and there were LOTS of hunters. Always said if I had it to do over again I would skip early and go late, let some of the goofs get done first. Just my opinion. Gary

Thanks for the replys. I hike the area every summer and it can be some tough country up there, but I have heard recently that it does get some pressure on the hunt like you were saying. Thanks for the advise on the searching TFinal.

My friend and I horsbacked into that area several years ago. We thought we were all by ourselves until opening morning when orange began to appear on every ridge. We saw some pretty good bucks, but so did everyone else and by 8:00 opening morning every deer on the mountain was in the trees and did not come back out. At least until after we left.

We've hunted all drainages on the Star Valley (Smoot) side and many of the drainages on both sides of the southern thrid of the Greys. Decided to get the preference points last year and again this year - that after seeing a HUGE drop in animals from the year before due to wolves. We were warned by a G&F guy on our way in to a particular drainage we'd hunted many time over the past 10 years. And, we ended up seeing some...wolves. Very few sightings of deer, very few shots heard. Pretty disheartening.

I love the area. We'll see what happens over the next couple of years.

Oh, 90% of the vehicles we see in the Greys (except for those areas reserved for the WY guides) are from Utah. More locals seems to hunt the Star Valley side.
