Just wanted some info on how Idaho does things. Is there Bonus Points? can you apply online, Do you have to put all the money up front, and do you have to buy a hunting licence and a deer tag any info would be great.
Thanks

You have to buy a license to apply. No bonus pt. yet for Idaho, but they have been trying. Can only apply for elk, deer, antelope or a once in a lifetime species such as moose, sheep, goat. not both.

And if you don't draw your tag you can buy general season OTC tags for elk deer bear and archery antelope.

Elk and deer seasons generally allow 30 days to bowhunt. Elk rifle seasons vary per unit, some any bull, some spike only and some cow only. Deer rifle seasons are generally 3 weeks 10/10-10/31 with a couple exceptions.

Hey at least you get to hunt even if you don't draw.....doesn't that beat bonus points?

Idaho has the BEST system for how they do their draws!!!!
I hope they don't screw it up.

The timeline for applying for controlled elk, deer and antelope tags is May 1-31, the trophy species (moose, sheep and goat)drawing application time is in April 1-30. However you can not apply for both trophy species and regular big game in the same year.

You will need to buy a license for 141.50 and then 6.25 for each entry (up to 2). You do not have to pay for the tag up front. We do not have bonus points.

As others have already posted, you can buy over the counter deer and elk tags for other units, if you do not draw a controlled hunt.

How about unit 73 I saw a season for 73a and one for just 73 looks like the one for just 73 is four point or better and is only like a week long, does that mean that you can't shoot a four point on the 73a longer hunt. Just trying to figure a few things out, thanks for all the help.

Never mind I just figured out that 73 and 73a are totally different units So is 73 nothing but 4 point or better. I am looking into hunting there have been herding cows on the mountains southwest of Malad. Didn't see too much. Never been on the mountains above Devils lake, Deep creek, or Daniels. Any info on the mountains around Malad would be helpful thanks. We have a ranch in Malad outside of Malad and would like to hunt out of the ranch house everyday.
Thanks

Unit 70 and 73 are currently managed for 4-point or better harvest, with a 7 day season. In 73A, any buck is legal and in the unit next to 73A, 56 the bag limit is any buck for the first week and then 2-point or less for the rest of the season. The only other restriction for nonresidents hunting in the southeast region is to hunt units 75,76,77,78 where a nonresident must purchase the southeast idaho tag for those units(first come first serve, on sale now). The rest of the state's nonresident general season mule deer hunting can be done with a regular deer tag.

Hey Mr_MDI

I have been watching those Southeastern Idaho tags. They are not moving very fast. I have never hunted up there, but have been through a few times. You got any info you can post about those areas or the hunt in general for the 4 SE Idaho units?

Thanks in advance.
