Sorry Big4, not trying to call you out. I think you killed an awesome buck, and could care less what the mass was. I would be interested to know if you taped over the velvet or without.
All this talk about 50" of mass has me thinking. What were the mass measurements of the Buck of Justice? Do you guys have any pics of bucks with official mass measurements scoring 50" or more? I've unofficially scored a pile of bucks, with none of them going over the lower 40's in mass. What about some of you official scorers? Just interested to know.

My buck killed this year had the following mass measurments:
Right side:
5 3/8
5
4 2/8
5

Left side:
5 2/8
5
4 3/8
5

If I knew had to post pics I would. Look at "My general archery deer, Pee Wee."
This will show you some idea of my mass. 19 5/8 per side.

I have scored 1 whitetail that had 50" of mass and no muleys that came close. I will say that I have not scored near as many muleys as whitetails though.

Here is a buck I had the pleasure of officially measuring (at the P&Y panel) earlier this year before the P&Y Convention. It was arrowed by a friend of mine (Matt) in Kansas. While I can't remember the exact individual measurements, I believe it had just over 24" of circumference measurements per side. You don't see many mule deer with more mass than this beast.

Maybe not 50" of total mass, but that's still a massive buck. Kansas can sure produce some big racked mulies.

Awesome, Congrats!!!

Government doesn't fix anything and has spent trillions proving it!!!
Let's face it...After Monday and Tuesday, even the calender says WTF!

Let's face it- 50" of mass is incredible... Basically, you'd be lookin at 7" bases, carrying 6" of mass per measurement throughout the antlers...

And, let's be honest, this thread is calling out Big4 for saying he had "almost 50" of mass" on that stud archery buck he harvested...

My estimation is that he obviously measured over the velvet (it would be sad to have stripped that buck of his velvet) and likely had measurments closer to 42-44" of mass... But hey, I don't mind a little exageration every now and again... that buck is still world class...
